Officers missed kidnap victim on 60 visits to Garrido's home

Nov 04, 2009 - SACRAMENTO — A blistering new report concludes that state corrections officials failed repeatedly to properly supervise accused rapist and kidnapper Phillip Garrido for 10 years, missing numerous opportunities to discover that he had allegedly kept Jaycee Lee Dugard captive in his Antioch-area backyard during the entire time California authorities were supposed to be keeping watch over him. Among the mistakes by state parole agents who supervised Garrido from 1999 until his latest arrest in August was a failure to investigate why there was a 12-year-old girl inside the home of a registered sex offender, why "clearly visible utility lines" were running from Garrido's home to a concealed compound where he allegedly kept Dugard and why agents took no action when they received information "clearly showing Garrido had violated his parole terms. Countries with the Biggest Gaps Between Rich and Poor- Is this Capitalism?

Oct 22, 2009 - I generally have a strong stance on Capitalism being the best economic system in existence.  However, now and then I think it's good to question this, especially when I see things like this, which don't help to proove my point.  Basically, most countries on this list are the most capitalist nations in the world- with Hong Kong having the biggest gap, and being the "most Capitalist."  I do believe that Capitalism is good for the whole, that it does not cause the rich to get richer, etc.  But this shows that the rich are just taking over all of the wealth in these nations.  What are your thoughts?   Countries with the Biggest Gaps Between Rich and Poor October 21, 2009 by admin   Filed under World Leave a comment By Bruce Einhorn from Business Week The U.N. The deficits - $10 billion in 2010 and $9 billion in 2011 - won't affect payments to retirees because Social Security has accumulated surpluses from previous years totaling $2.5 trillion. Are Men Obsolete?

Sep 21, 2009 - By Robin of Berkeley July 22, 2009 http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/07/are_men_obsolete.html   When I snapped out of my left wing trance last year, I was lost in space.  I had no conservative friends and was clueless about web sites and books.     I had heard something vaguely about Talk Radio.  So I scanned my AM dial and found Michael Savage.  (It took several months, and a chat with a rather bemused new friend, before I even realized there were other hosts as well.)     Being a lifelong liberal, I'd never heard anybody like Savage in my life.  He yelled;  he called people "vermin."  He was unbridled masculinity, not the touchy feeling kind I was used to.  And he totally accepted himself:  his moods, passion, temper.     But what shocked me the most was his saying that men have become "feminized."  I'd never been so offended.  "Well, what's wrong with men being more feminine?"  I shouted back at my radio.  "Is there something wrong with femininity?"   Men being way more in touch with their yin and less with their yang sounded good to me. - 21 Comments
