A beautiful book about survival and life in Southern Appalachia, from the turn of the century on. This is a wonderful book that I first read in a Women in Southern Lit class, and I reread it every few years. All of Lee Smiths' books are wonderful, but this remains my favorite.

I'm pretty ambivalent about horror as a genre. I'm not a huge fan of it, nor do I have any problem with it, but it's rare that I actively watch a horror movie, unless it's a classic (The Exorcist, Poltergeist, etc.) But last night was Halloween and the boy got this from Netflix, so I figured I'd give it a shot. And I'm glad I did.

I am somewhat on an Imeem strike, so I am back to where I was before discovering Imeem, East Village Radio. Which is absolutely fine because you can find such a wide array of radio shows, from French Pop, to Indie, to thumping house, to punk to goth... you get the picture.
