Critics of the Democratic health care proposal have been increasingly raising concerns that the plan would provide taxpayer-subsidized abortions (a claim we address here). The Liberty Counsel, a conservative group, puts a different twist on that concern, alleging that Page 992 of the bill "will establish school-based 'health' clinics. Your children will be indoctrinated and your grandchildren may be aborted!"

I think this bit from George Carlin sums up a lot of great observations/arguments surrounding almost any debate about abortion, pro-life/pro-choice stances, and religion's role in this debate. It's good to see in its original context as well, as part of his routine, so I bet it's out on YouTube as well. It's a bit brusque, but hey, if it wasn't, then it wouldn't be Carlin, right?

I am sickened by the death of Dr. George Tiller, a physician who displayed lifelong respect for the woman and her body. Operation Rescue condemned his murder, though in language that tacitly encourages violence.

"Members of the congregation who were inside the sanctuary at the time of the shooting were being kept inside the church by police," the Wichita Eagle reported, "and those arriving were being ushered into the parking lot."
