FACT CHECK: Obama's words on home aid ring hollow
Feb 25, 3:15 AM (ET)
By CALVIN WOODWARD and JIM KUHNHENN
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama knows Americans are unhappy that the government could rescue people who bought mansions beyond their means.
But his assurance Tuesday night that only the deserving will get help rang hollow.
Even officials in his administration, many supporters of the plan in Congress and the Federal Reserve chairman expect some of that money will go to people who used lousy judgment.

As massive flooding continues to ravage parts of the Midwest, Farm Aid is reaching out to family farmers in towns along the Mississippi and other rivers.
Country singer turned activist and Farm Aid president and founder Willie Nelson activated the Family Farm Disaster Fund to get immediate relief to family farmers in Iowa, Wisconsin and across the Midwest.
Nelson is set to deliver the first grant from the Family Farm Disaster Fund on Saturday to the Iowa Grassroots Coalition, a group of farm and faith-based organizations in Iowa working on the recovery effort.

Julia Roberts has once again teamed up with Bono in his charity campaign to fight the AIDS epidemic in Africa.
Roberts has been called upon by the U2 star and Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani for the second time, designing a T-shirt to be sold under the pair’s Red label project.
The team partnered up for the design, featuring the words “revolution.evolution.devotion” over the treetop of a symbolic drawing by the actress - an acronym for Red, which aims to raise money for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

They're known for their love of pranks and practical jokes, but good friends Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Matt Damon have come together for something far more serious.
The Ocean's 11 stars – all past or present winners of PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive title – helped launch an advertising campaign aimed at getting more aid into Myanmar, whose ruling regime has made access to the country difficult for aid agencies and relief workers in the wake of last month's cyclone Nargis.
The ad campaign is sponsored by the activist group Not On Our Watch, headed up by Pitt, Clooney, Damon and other Hollywood heavy-hitters.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are continuing to help kids around the world, helping those who have been affected by tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS
The Jolie-Pitt Foundation just donated $2 million to the Global Health Committee to plant a help center in Ethiopia, which will be named after their daughter Zahara (she was adopted from Ethiopia).
The center will be modeled after Maddox Chivan Children’s Center in Cambodia (named after their oldest son), where children receive medical, education and social services.
“Our goal is to transfer the success we have had in Cambodia to Ethiopia where people are needlessly dying of tuberculosis, a curable disease, and HIV/AIDS, a treatable disease,” Jolie said in a statement to People.
