Yesterday, I had a crummy, stressful day at work. It was one of those days when the higher-ups are freaking out about an impossible deadline at the end of the week, getting everyone else all stirred up and anxious, only to find out later that the deadline is actually two weeks away. It was frustrating and tiring.

The Help ($12) is a quick read that will steal her attention and her affection and leave her wanting more. Kathryn Stockett's first novel, the book about the relationships between mothers and the women that help them (nannies in particular) will have mommy laughing out loud, tearing up in the eyes, dog-earring pages with special passages and thinking about how she relates to some of the closest people in her life.

Health reformers prepare for Senate hurdle

The first thing Barack Obama did late on Saturday night following the passage of the healthcare bill in the House of Representatives was to phone the heads of three industry lobby groups to thank them for their support. Not included on the list was the largest insurance lobby group, American Health Insurance Plans, which doggedly continues to oppose Democratic reform efforts.
Amid all the late night celebrations after the razor-thin 220-215 vote for the bill, Karen Ignagni, head of AHIP, warned that it would be a much tougher battle to push reform through the Senate in the weeks ahead.

Being a former beauty editor, I've had tons of gift cards at some of the swankiest spas here in NYC where I would indulge in treatments that cost a fraction of my rent! But no matter the cost, I have never been satisfied with any facial. It's been a while since noted feminist author Camille Paglia opined on the presidential race, but Hillary Clinton's remarks on last night's 60 Minutes provoked her to comment.
Here, in the first excerpt of Usmagazine.com's exclusive interview with Paglia, she says Clinton is "just too damn clever for her own good."
When Clinton was asked if she believes the lies that Barack Obama is a Muslim (the Drudge Report has accused her of circulating the lie), she responded, "Of course not.
