Well, I know I have, and while I always thought it was incredibly rude, what I want to know is, do you think yawning is done out of boredom?

And I'm not talking about the "Prince Charles might be bisexual" gossip. (Yawn.) I'm talking about Stephen Colbert breaking out of character and laughing his ass off! I've never seen him do this. Love it!

Guy Thinks He Can Get "Breezies" Interested With Lame Coin Trick

I'm posting this not so much because I think it is an interesting video (yawn), or that I'm impressed with this guy's how-to-impress-chicks coin trick (snooze), but rather because he motivated me to look up a word I've heard before but never really knew what it meant. He refers to women as "breezies," and the Urban Dictionary (I know, I'm a dork), told me it's a word combing "broad" and "easy." Ha! If these broads were so easy, dude, you wouldn't have to get drunken tips from some loser at a bar about how to pick them up with party tricks. (Breezy is now my new fave word for men I meet in bars, incidentally.)

On the Newsstand: Barack and Michelle Open Up to the Ladies

Barack and Michelle Obama sat down with Ladies' Home Journal to talk about marriage, parenting, women voters, and what it's like to run for President of the United States.

I have to admit, I love getting a behind the scenes look into how busy politicians try to maintain some remnants of normalcy. Stay tuned for a peek into the McCains' marriage, as LHJ plans on sitting down with John and Cindy, too. The Obama interview will be the cover story for the September issue of the magazine.

Here are some highlights:

On Michelle becoming a part of his administration:
Barack: "She is my chief counsel and adviser. I would never make big decisions without asking her opinion. Certainly about my career and my life. My sense is-and I’ll let her speak for herself here-that she’d probably be more interested in having a set of projects that were driven by her interests and her desires, as opposed to me handing her some sort of portfolio, and saying, 'Here, do this.'"

Michelle: "There are a ton of issues that I care deeply about. But the notion of sitting around the table with a set of policy advisers-no offense - makes me yawn [laughter]. . . . I’d love to be having more conversations with military spouses."

On marital problems:
Michelle: "There were a lot of things time-wise that he couldn’t provide because he was not there. So, how do I stop being mad at him and start problem solving, and cobble together the resources? I also had to admit that I needed space and I needed time."

To find out Barack's views on being a father, the presidency, and the role of the female voter this year, read more.

On the Presidency:
Barack: “It’s a big job. The thing that keeps me awake at night is not the prospect of losing. It’s the prospect of winning and governing.”

On women’s roles in this election:
Barack: “In this election the issues of the economy are ones that women are going to particularly feel and be concerned about. But I also think the fact that Senator [Hillary] Clinton ran such an outstanding campaign and inspired so many women to think about that glass ceiling-not just in politics but in all walks of life-makes the women’s vote particularly important this year. ”

On what to look for in a leader:
Michelle: “It touches me when our girls touch him. Whether it’s with a story or a word. You can see it in his face. That’s the leader I want: somebody who is so moved by his own children that he’ll go out there and fight for everyone else’s.”

On being a father:
Barack: "As somebody who didn’t grow up with a father in the home, I like having men come up to me saying, ‘You know, I’m really glad you’re a good father.’ I like that maybe some little boy somewhere who doesn’t have a dad in his house sees Michelle and the girls and me out somewhere and is going to going to carry that image in his head with him somewhere down the road."

On raising a family:
Michelle: “It’s a unit that raises a child. As far as I’m concerned, in this couple, Barack is the person who has the skill, the inclination, the desire, the ability to be in politics. I have no desire. So that’s a good thing, in my view, since someone has to be focusing on the kids - and that’s me. But it could easily be him. There’s no reason why the nurturing has to come from Mom - it just has to be there.”

On the role of government:
Barack: “The government can’t solve every problem, but an enlightened government can make sure that people can work hard for their dreams and achieve them. Government can knock down barriers so that families are in a stronger position. And that’s what we’re going to be fighting for in this election.”

Ask E. Jean For DearSugar: How Can I Accomplish My Dream?

Dear E. Jean,

I have an unusual dilemma. My mother and I would like to buy/obtain land in Ocala, FL, open a sanctuary and call it Willow Star Haven.

This will be a wellness center for the elderly, a no-kill animal rescue shelter with a vet on site, and a children’s center for kids with learning disabilities. My mother is already working on the getting the permits. But obviously it will require a lot of money to bring our dream to life. Can you give me some ideas for fund raising? We can’t afford to hire a fund-raising firm. - A Better Tomorrow

To see E. Jean's answer read more.

Better, My Buttercup,

You’re going to need the bloodlines of Tinsley Mortimer, the brain of Eleanor Roosevelt, the brilliance of Mother Theresa, the stamina of Oprah, and the energy of cocaine addict just to find a decent parcel of land in Ocala, let alone buy it and build the sanctuary. But, so what? I completely and totally believe you can do it.

Why?

Because the only people who can accomplish anything this huge are the crazy ones - crazy to save dogs and cats, crazy to nurture kids, crazy to entertain old white-haired people. (Or as Jack Kerouac says: “the mad ones . . . the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn")

I also looked you up online, and I see that you have already established yourself as a non-profit charitable trust. Excellent! Anyone who can endure the interminable grind of obtaining 501c3 status from the IRS, can endure anything.

I advise you to start small. Don’t try to do the animal shelter AND the wellness center for the codgers AND the kids all at once. You must think like a corporation: Do one thing very well, establish a presence, burnish your reputation, gain the respect of the people of Ocala, and then you can start going to large corporations and soliciting funds.

To get the seed money for the land and the building materials, I suggest you seek partnerships with local businesses. (Begin with talking to their marketing/PR/advertising department heads.) It will be a boost for their company image to be connected with your sanctuary and good for you because they will give you the wherewithal to start! Good luck!

P.S. To see what just one little girl can do, look at this video! Her dad teaches at our local high school here.

To see more advice from E. Jean, visit Elle magazine and AskEJean.com.

Sleepy College Student

Dear Sugar
I just started a new term in College, everything’s great. The thing is, I am a night person and usually go to sleep at 2:00 or 3:00am. But for the past week, I changed my sleeping pattern and have been going to bed at midnight and waking up at 8:00am. Even when it is a full 8 hours of sleep, I still yawn throughout the day - but I'm not feeling sleepy. The yawning has become very irritating; please give me a few suggestions as to how to get rid of it? Sluggish Sophomore

Dear Sluggish Sophomore
Getting yourself to bed earlier is a great start to taking care of your body, but what about your diet and exercise habits? Give your body some time to adjust to the new sleep schedule - 8 hours should definitely be plenty. What are you eating? Are you skipping breakfast and are you ODing on carbs? The foods that you eat are what fuel your body for the day. In combination with no daily exercise, your body is going to react in a lethargic way. As soon as you get up, head straight to the gym, go for a morning jog or take a walk. Then go home and eat a sensible breakfast (high in protein). I'll bet you feel sharper almost immediately. When your body is healthy, your brain is healthier too - I'll expect a copy of your next report card improvements!
