When we're on the dating scene, finding ourselves attracted to a certain type of guy is very typical and actually quite hard to avoid. Though we always hope that we’re attracted to the right type for us, the truth of the matter is, sometimes we go for the type that’s just all wrong. But of course, it all depends on the girl. So ladies, good or bad, do tell: How would you define your type?

Are you attracted to a specific body type? I like tall guys with a medium build, but I have friends that are really into the skinny, artsy type. I like bigger guys because they make me feel small, but I can appreciate why lanky men like Hayden Christensen are considered sex symbols. So ladies, since we all have such different taste in men, tell me this: Do you like guys that are stacked like Nick Lachey or slender like Adrien Brody?

We all have pasts, so when you date someone new, it's inevitable that someone has walked in similar shoes before you. In order to make the relationship work, it's important to let that go and understand that you are the one in the relationship now, not the ex.

With that said, in a previous poll, 36 percent of you admitted to dating a specific type of guy, so what I want to know is, would you rather fit your new boyfriend's type, or would you rather be different and stand out as the unique personality and look that was new, exciting and different for your boyfriend?

I have finally broken my spell, but there was a while there when I seemed to date the same type of guy over and over again, even though I knew they were not good for me. They were all Leos with very strong personalities, slightly cocky, and they all loved to played games. I think everyone has a "type" of guy they like, so what I want to know is, do you tend to date the same type of guy over and over again?

You don't need to be a fan of Twilight to understand the difference between the two leading men (can we call vampires and werewolves men?). On the one hand, there's Edward - think of him as the sophisticated older man type. In fact, he's 108. If you go for introverted, devoted, and beautiful men, Edward's your type of guy. Then we have Jacob, the good-natured hunk. Jacob's the extrovert with a sense of humor who knows how to have fun. Which type of guy would you rather date: the mysterious guy or the outgoing guy?

Hilarious or Horrifying? Trojan Can Prevent Rude Moviegoers

When lovers not planning on making a baby start to get busy, the last thing they want to think about is what type of person their potential child would be three decades down the road. But in this commercial, Trojan wants to remind you that you should wrap it up, lest you end up with a child who turns out to be the most obnoxious grown man ever to enter a movie theater!

Avoiding children, annoying or not, is a major reason for using protection, but this commercial sends a somewhat confusing message about contraception. If this guy weren't annoying, would it have been a good thing that his parents didn't use a condom? Do you think this is an effective message, or does it miss the mark?

A Generation of Male Commitmentphobes?

A recent Marie Claire trend piece takes on a certain species of man: the commitment-phobe. Lest you think this is but one unavoidable type of man, the writer suggests that there's a whole generation of 30-something men having early midlife crises:

These guys are part of a cause-less generation. They didn't grow up burning their draft cards or fighting the Nazis. They weren't part of the Civil Rights Movement, the Women's Movement, or any other movement. They were spoiled as kids and now they want to spoil themselves as adults. The old cliché was that a man would wake up one morning and realize that he wanted his youth back. The new version is that he never reached adulthood in the first place.

This type tends to be drawn to Type-A women who can bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan, and never let him forget he's a man . . . but the writer wonders if part of what the male commitmentphobe is thinking is that this type of woman doesn't need him at all. (Hmmm. So it's her fault?)

I don't think many would argue for a return to old-school gender roles and the suffocation that went with them, but do you think there's a whole generation of young-ish men who don't know how to commit?

Introducing: Ask Two Guys About Guys

A few months ago, I stumbled upon the awesome book Don't Be That Guy, an illustrated book that delineated the myriad types of guys no guy should be.

There are the guys who verbally encourage themselves while working out at the gym, or guys who wear sunglasses at nonprofessional poker tournaments, or guys with Amish beards who aren't Amish (my personal fave). The list goes on.

In addition to being funny, Don't Be That Guy gave me a peek into the male psyche. It was refreshing to have a couple dudes honestly (and hilariously) list what bugs them about other guys. (I can't always be the one complaining about men!)

Well, lucky for us, writer Colin Nissan and illustrator Sean Farrell agreed to answer some nagging lady-questions for a few weeks (and maybe beyond?). So stay tuned for tomorrow's installment of Ask Two Guys About Guys, where the two guys explain the ancient mystery of why some men insist on masturbating even though they have regular sex partners. This should be fun!

iPhone App Helps Men Keep Score of Chicks They've Scored

Pepsi's Amp Up energy drink (another one?!) has created a free iPhone app that gives players "up-to-the-minute info, feeds, lines" so that they can talk to their favorite kinds of women - "24 in all."

Basically, men can either get tips before they score, or they can upload details of their hookups as a result of these indubitably useful apps after they score. Nice touch, Pepsi.

I would rename this the "wishful thinking app." Because what guy who would ask his phone how he should speak to a "punk" woman because she's "staring holes into him" is really scoring at all? I love when the guy in the commercial clicks on the punk cartoon girl and it takes him to a definition of punk ("Punk rock is a genre that . . ."). Wow.

This app may try to help a man score one of 24 types of women, but it seems to be marketed to only one kind of dude: a loser.

Meet Matchmaker Amy Andersen, Part III

This week I've been sharing my interviews with Amy Andersen, matchmaker to successful singles who can afford her pricey services. Amy has shared her thoughts on gold diggers, as well as her belief that a woman should not take the reins on a date as she might at work. Here's what she has to say about her female clients.

You spoke about how women and men should assume more traditional roles when dating. Is it possible for your female clients to still “be women” in the traditional sense when they are pursuing men through your service?

Amy Andersen: Half our clients are women. Our female clients, just like the male clients, are absolutely exceptional in every sense of the word. They’ve worked hard in their lives to achieve academic and professional success. They have great friends and are very well-rounded except for the fact that they find it really hard to find a man of substance, who is commitment-minded, and shares the same core values as they do - especially when it comes to raising a family. It is very much possible for a woman to still “be a woman” in the traditional sense when she is pursuing a man through Linx Dating. Our service can be likened to a friend introducing you to a friend. Yes, there is some formality involved, but beyond that it is perfectly easy for a woman to enjoy herself and be courted by a genuinely good guy whom I have met individually through the interview process.

In your professional opinion, where is the best place for a woman to meet a man?

AA: You need to envision the types of guys you like and you desire to end up with. After this, then start thinking like guy. If you are into the athletic jock type, where would the jocks hang out? Maybe they participate in a coed runners club or spend their Saturdays at a sporting-good store. If you are into the academic type, where would he hang out? He’s at a lecture, in a bookstore, part of a coed book club. Once you start thinking like this, then you need to map out a strategic game plan and develop your own strategies and plans to place yourself in these seemingly target-rich environments. This thinking could be carried over to any type of guy you are into. Once you start thinking like them and discover where they hang out, then you end up in these favorable environments. The next step is learning to flirt and approach, but that’s another discussion.
