In case you missed it, last night was the finale of The Bachelorette. Spunky Canadian Jillian Harris's quest to find love on a reality show came to an end as she had to choose between Kiptyn, Ed, and Reid. The episode was filled with tears and sighs from Jillian, who had fallen for all three of the guys! In the end she chose Ed and seemed pretty happy.

Anyone who goes on The Bachelorette to choose a soul mate among 30 eligible men runs the risk of falling in love with more than one of them (or none of them). But this could also happen to someone sans TV cameras and exotic dates. Have you ever been in love with more than one person at the same time?

Having seen The Bachelor more seasons than I care to admit, I will say that having a bevy of women vying for your attention looks more fun for the man than 25 30 men vying for a woman's attention. (Here are the guys.) Watching Jillian walk into a room full of boozed-up bachelors wanting to talk to her made me uncomfortable for her. No wonder she was sucking down those Chardonnays.
It's hard to break-dance in a white, form-fitting, charmeuse gown.
Some men really, really identify with their jobs. (Pilot dude, I'm talking to you.)
Being sincere and yourself (Kiptyn, Ed) is so much more attractive than acting a part (Juan, Kyle.)
Sadly, sometimes being sincere isn't enough (sorry, Adam).

It's true - funny often trumps hunky. (Break-dancer guy over square-jawed, humorless bohunks.)
Having a man you don't know sing you a love song he wrote for you is . . . weird not romantic.
I now know that if a man asks you to take your shoes off within moments of meeting you and can't make eye contact with you, but also isn't looking at your chest but rather stealing furtive glances down to your feet, he probably has a foot fetish.
Men have some odd names these days. (Mathue. Kiptyn. Two Tanners - Tanner P. and Tanner F.? Really?)
There's not enough money in the world you could give me to be on a reality-dating show.

Have You Ever Dated Polar Opposites?

Tonight is the much anticipated (at least for me!) season finale of The Bachelorette and I'm crossing my fingers that she chooses Jason! I really liked this season, but I never quite understood DeAnna's decision making process since the last two men standing couldn't be more opposite. Jesse's a free spirit who marches to the beat of his own drummer while Jason is the traditional all-American dad who just seems like the obvious choice for DeAnna (if you ask me)!

Of course it's all about chemistry and the connection they've developed, but I just don't get how she can be attracted to such polar opposites. Clearly I don't stray far from my type of guy, but have you ever dated polar opposites?

Would You Give Him A Chance?

I've asked you before if you'd ever compete for a man, but what about dating a man that's competed for a woman? If you missed last nights premiere of The Bachelorette, 25 guys had to put their best foot forward and make their very best first impression. Some of them tried a little too hard and ended up making fools out of themselves, while others simply put their heart on their sleeves, all trying to meet their future wife. Since 85 percent of you thought the contestants on The Bachelor were pathetic and desperate, would you automaticly disregard a man that was once a contestant on The Bachelorette for the same reasons or would you give him a chance to win you over?

Bachelorette parties can be crazy - of course, that's sort of the point. With all the penis-shaped whistles, questionably named shots of liquor, and male strippers, it's hardly a shock when something shocking happens.

I once found myself at a bachelorette bash complete with a cake shaped like a naked man and decorated with a frozen banana. At the goading of her guests, the normally mild-mannered bride-to-be ended up - ahem - pleasuring the banana, which would have been funny, except that her mom was sitting right there. Things really got uncomfortable when someone let slip that the bachelorette and her future husband had been having sex since high school. Until that point, her mom had thought they'd waited until getting engaged. Awkward!

Man, if I thought that getting married meant I would never go out again, I don't think I could do it! It's probably not really true (married folks, is it?), but I guess people who market bachelorette party crapola bank on the cliché. In case it's true, I guess you'd need this last night out survival kit. Because on your last night of fun out as an unmarried person, you need a pecker surprise shot glass, pecker nose glasses, and a ball and chain that attaches to your stilettos, right?

It's your party, so you can invite whomever you want! Some people assume that only the wedding party gets the invite, but friends and family members who aren't in the wedding are welcome too, just as long as they are invited to the wedding itself.
First decide if you want a relaxing or wild bachelorette party and make your reservations from there. To keep the prices down, four girls can easily share one room. Getting ready with your friends and goofing off at the end of the night are some of the most fun moments of a bachelorette party, so don't feel bad about packing the rooms tightly.
Since weddings are already so pricey, adding in the added expense of a weekend away might just be too much for some, so if you're the bride, don't take it personally if not all your friends can make it.
Give your girls plenty of time to plan for your bachelorette party. Some might need to start saving money months in advance, and booking far enough out will ensure your girls won't have any scheduling conflicts.
If some of the girls don't know each other, it's important to make sure no one feels left out. If you are the only common thread for a handful of the girls attending, perhaps you should share room with them over your best friend or maid of honor.
The most important part of any bachelorette party is to have fun, so enjoy your last weekend getaway with your girlfriends as a single woman!

Bachelorette parties come in all shapes and sizes (as do male strippers). Some brides want relaxing girls' getaways, while others go for wild and crazy Vegas-style parties.

A wedding calls for a celebration, and the bachelorette party is an opportune time to spend some quality time with your good friends, but celebrating a friend's impending end to singledom could be time-consuming and expensive if it involves going somewhere. There's the cost of the flight out, hotel, dinners, drinks, cabs. . .

So I'm curious, have you ever skipped a bachelorette party you were invited to because it didn't work with your budget or schedule, or do you always make them a priority?

Does my Maid of Honor Have to Plan my Bachelorette Party?

Dear Sugar,

I am getting married this summer and talk of my bachelorette party is starting to swirl. My maid of honor is my best friend from childhood. Our mothers have been best friends forever and we were both the only girls in our families, so we are more like sisters than friends-- she's the best! With that said, she isn't the biggest party animal. She likes to go out and have a good time, and she is always up for anything, but I want my bachelorette party to be WIlD, a weekend I will never forget.

I know the maid of honor is typically supposed to be in charge of planning the bachelorette party, but my question is does she have to? My other bridesmaids are much more wild like me and I fear that if my MOH plans it, I will be left disappointed. Do you have any advice for me to make sure my last weekend as a single girl will be fun without hurting my MOH's feelings? -- Ready to Party Penelope

Wow, it sounds like you are ready to let your hair down and I don't blame you!! You're right, typically it is the maid of honor's job to plan the bachelorette party, but that rule is not set in stone. Although she might not be as wild and crazy as the rest of the girls, that doesn't necessarily mean she won't plan a wild and crazy bachelorette party for you. Since she is your best friend, chances are she knows what you want, so have faith in her party planning abilities. If you are really concerned and are still having doubts, talk to her and make sure you are on the same page.

If there is another girl in particular you wish could plan your party or someone who knows exactly what you want, perhaps suggesting they work together, or tell your other bridesmaid to relay your desires to your MOH without you even having to get involved. Your maid of honor will want you to have fun so don't be afraid to speak up. Your friends probably know you better than you think, so rest assured they have your best interests at heart. Good luck, be safe, and most importantly, have fun! Congratulations!
