I've met guys at bars, at the gym, heck, I've even let my mom set me up on a blind date! I've tried group dating, double dating, and I've heard many success stories about online dating, and even speed dating.

The concept is kind of brilliant actually. You get a chance to meet tons of available bachelors in a short amount of time, and let's face it - if you're not attracted to them in five minutes, the chances for a meaningful relationship are slim to none.

So have you ever tried speed dating? What did you think? Did you go alone or with a group of single friends? Was it a total disaster, or did you find a good match?

DEARSUGAR and Hot To Trot Mama need some advice about what to wear to a first time Speed Dating event. I've already consulted with FABSUGAR so don't even think of pawning this off onto her.

All I have to say is remember that girl in The 40 Year Old Virgin who had her tata's hanging out and she didn't even know it during her speed dating session with Steve Carell? That was pretty funny, so don't wear anything that's too low cut. What are your thoughts?

A swank restaurant in my town recently started a speed dating night for adults between the ages of 55-65. My Mom has been divorced from my Dad for about three years and I thought that it would be a great event for her.

Finally, she's agreed to go, but she has no idea what to wear. She's a pretty hip 58 year old with a daring, yet age-appropriate wardrobe. She has lots of Tahari blazers, flirty circle skirts, and tops with sophisticated but feminine detail. She doesn't want to look like she's trying too hard, but she wants to make a really great first impression. Do you have any ideas for me? Hot To Trot Mama

Vocabulary Test Time! Can You Speak (New) English?

Every day editors of the Merriam-Webster dictionary spend hours reading books, magazines, newspapers, and online publications to find out how people are using the English language. Eventually, if a word is used enough, it gets added to the dictionary! This year, Merriam-Webster added 100 new words, including frenemy, ginormous, smackdown, sudoku, and speed dating. The dictionary publishers say the words are included because of their extensive use, but some of the new additions seem pretty obscure to me. I guess that's what ~~Google~~ a dictionary is for! See if you can match some of the more random words to their newly-printed official definitions!

Along with penis size, height, and the ability to get it up, the locus of many a dude's insecurities lies in his stamina, or ability to have sex for as long as it takes to satisfy his partner. This hilarious (for anyone who doesn't have a premature ejaculation problem!) Australian ad capitalizes on this insecurity.

Created for the Advanced Medical Institute, a Sydney-based provider of treatment programs for fun things like erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation, it shows the police breaking into a couple's bedroom and telling a one-minute man they'll give him a speeding ticket unless he calls AMI for help. Australia's Advertising Standards Bureau has received complaints from people saying that it's offensive to men.

Tech Dating 101: Changing Your Relationship Status

Spring has sprung, and it's not only the time for budding flowers and April showers, it's the time of budding romances too! But with so much new technology out there, the art of dating has become more complicated than ever - we can totally feel Drew Barrymore's pain in He's Just Not That Into You when she laments about having to keep up with several different technologies just to get rejected.

So in the face of this uncharted territory, geeksugar and DearSugar are teaming up to bring you a series about love and the technologies that connect us called Tech Dating 101. We'll answer some of the burning questions you might have about both subjects, like our first question this week:

How long should I wait to change my status from "Single" to "In a Relationship" after I begin dating someone?

Oh how I wish there was a concrete answer for this one, because I get asked this all the time. But as you know, all relationships progress at different speeds, so you really have to look at it on a case-by-case basis. If you're in a committed, monogamous relationship, I don't think you should think twice about changing your status, but before making any announcements to the world wide web, be sure you and your love interest are on the same page. If you're both willing to make the change, do it together and consider it another step in the right direction. Just make sure you're confident in the future of your relationship, as it could be rather embarrassing to have to change your status back to "single" a few weeks later.

If your guy is not willing to let go of his single status, however, you might want to reevaluate the relationship. I'd take his hesitation as a telltale sign that he's either not ready to make a commitment to you, or he's not willing to expose your relationship to his family and friends.

While this seems like a simple task, I do understand what a big step this is. At the end of the day, you're going to have to communicate with your partner and do whatever feels right for you and your relationship. Or, you could always take the easy way out and leave your relationship status blank!

On the eighth day you may venture forth into the world of blokes again - stronger, smarter, more self-assured. Then you may consider speed-dating.

The How-To Lounge: New Avenues to Meet People

Meeting new guys is not all that hard - just head out to your local pub for a drink and smile a lot! But meeting quality people who you’d actually want to interact with sober and introduce to your friends is another matter entirely. And while throwing out suggestions like going to a bar or starting up conversations at your gym can be helpful for some, most of us have been there and done that. In an attempt to broaden our horizons, I’ve tried to think outside the dating box. To see my new ideas, just read more.

Get the word out there. Email your friends and ask your mom to talk to her friends. It may sound desperate, but try to think of it as practical. At least you know they’ll all be looking out for your well-being.
Do the online dating thing. I know for some the idea of meeting someone online seems weird or even embarrassing, but the days of online dating as taboo are over! Embrace the tools you have at your disposal, because you won't know until you try!
Try a dating event like a singles' night or a speed dating dinner. They may not have the highest success rates, but you’ll know everyone there is looking for a relationship, and that, my friends, is potential.
Take a class. School is one of the best places to meet new people. You’re forced to interact on a weekly basis without the stresses and pressures of work. Plus, you might actually learn something!
And finally, say yes to the strange requests from your friends and family. Like when your mom asks you to go to her best friend’s sister’s son’s birthday, do it. Or when your friend wants to go to a themed party, go for it. These are the random occasions that make up the stories that start with “It was totally unexpected . . .”

Yes, it’s all about taking chances, but why not? We’re not talking brain surgery here!

Debt Clock Maxes Out & Five Historic Financial Meltdowns

The national debt came up last night at the debate, with Obama pointing out that it's doubled since 2000. Yikes. The famous debt clock in New York City, the one that calculates what we owe right before your very eyes is feeling the squeeze - literally. The counter, put up in in 1989, just ran out of space to calculate the debt as it passed $10 trillion. Oops. I know it seems all gloom and doom but how does what's happening now stack up? Here's a quick and dirty look at economic uh-ohs through the ages:

The Panic of 1907: After a 25 percent decline in the market left investors scared and pulling money out, and the government dependent on JP Morgan to help stop the domino effect, the government created the Federal Reserve System.

The Wall Street Crash of 1929: Over the course of three days, three times the normal amount of shares were traded causing prices to tumble. On Black Monday and Tuesday, the market lost 13 and 12 percent respectively. That week's losses were $30 billion, 10 times more than government budget and more than the cost of WWI. When it reached bottom in July 1932 the market had lost 89 percent and would take 25 years to recover.

The Great Depression: On President Hoover's watch, 9,000 banks failed and newly homeless Americans set up shanty towns called "Hoovervilles," an image that haunts his legacy to date. When Roosevelt took over in 1933 he initiated the New Deal, the effects of which we still see today in Social Security, the FDIC, and the FHA.
The Oil Crisis of 1973: When the US supported Israel in the Yom Kippur War against Syria and Egypt, members of OPEC shut off oil exports to the US quadrupling the per-barrel cost of crude. The government responded by rationing gas and imposing a national speed limit of 55 m.p.h.
The Savings & Loan Crisis of 1989: The real-estate boom of the 1980s caused the S&L industry to grow very quickly, overextending the institutions whose job was to collect money from people in the form of savings, and then loan that same money out in the form of mortgages. When people started pulling their money out for higher interest rates in money market accounts, trouble, also the Keating Five, ensued.

Bush to Meet Candidates:
After his address on the economy last night where President Bush said, "we're in the midst of a serious financial crisis," Bush is set to meet with both candidates plus leaders of Congress today. It's a session he hopes will, “speed our discussions toward a bipartisan bill.” It was Bush's first prime-time speech devoted to the economy that he says, is "in danger."

China Launches Space Mission:
China's third manned space mission blasted off today on a journey that will last 70 hours and will include the country's first space walk. China's president was on hand to see the astronauts off on their riskiest mission to date. China became the third nation ever to put a man in space in 2003.

Civilians Flee Violence in Somalia:
Thousands are fleeing the capital of Somalia following fighting between AU peace keepers and insurgents have left 50 dead since Monday. Aid workers say between 15,000 and 18,000 have fled the city and are now living in terrible conditions in makeshift camps. Aid will likely not reach the needy as conditions in the country are too dangerous for agencies to operate.
