I'm having a hard time breaking my addition to A&E's Intervention. (Though I guess it could be worse.) Perhaps a song is in order?

Hard to believe, but Stephen Colbert was the lead in a band back in the '80s. It was a time when love songs and power ballads dominated the airwaves and young Stephen had no problem playing the part of a hard-core rocker stalker. (He had a problem obeying that pesky restraining order, but a "special hidden message" had to be delivered to a "special hidden lady."

I haven't a clue why, but I like what these boys did. Watch what happens when two 90210 fans play dress-up and re-shoot the opening credits for the show. Their impersonations are dead on, although Brenda could tame those brows a bit and Kelly's hair desperately needs a hot oil treatment.

Am I the last person to learn that prolific children's poet Shel Silverstein had another life as a writer of decidedly adult content? Feels like it! Besides writing Johnny Cash's hit song "A Boy Named Sue," he started his career at Playboy, where he continued to contribute until his death.

Former Tennessee GOP leader Chip Saltsman incited quite a controversy this holiday when, as part of his campaign to be the next RNC chairman, he gave out copies of a mixed CD including conservative satirist Paul Shanklin's track, "Barack the Magic Negro." The song, which is set to the tune of "Puff the Magic Dragon," originally aired on Rush Limbaugh's talk radio show and has been described as a parody, but Saltsman's gift isn't sitting well with the media and most of the public. Current RNC Chairman Mike Duncan, who is seeking another term, even issued a statement saying it is "shocking" and "appalling."

Though will.i.am's video just picked up an Emmy, I venture there's something to be said for a little folk-music (and whistling!) in your political parody.
Mary Katharine Ham, recently of Townhall, made this deftly edited, quirkily catchy video about the choices you might make if you had your own, private Obama on your shoulder, devil/angel style.
With the little tiny voice saying "Obama!"

We all have met the inane Obama girl. Here's a spoof on a regrettable genre that's already a parody of itself — the girl-for-a-presidential-candidate vid. At least this "Kucinich Girl" song has some hilarious lyrics: "He's sexy, he's vegan, he makes my heart sing .
