A friend of mine, who is newly single, recently admitted that she's afraid to put herself out there again because she's a terrible flirt. But as someone who knows her well, I can attest that she is in fact selling herself short. However, I have been witness to terrible flirtation before. Not only is it awkward to watch, it's embarrassing if you're on the receiving end. I've always been a great flirt - not sure if that's a good quality to posses or not - but what about you?

Thanksgiving is the one holiday dedicated to being grateful for what you have, something we could all do a lot more of if you ask me. While it's sometimes easier to see the glass half empty than half full, I thought I'd put together a list of five things to be thankful for if you're single this Thanksgiving, if you're in a relationship, and if you're spending the holiday with your family. You don’t have to worry about anyone’s holiday plans but your own.
You can spend your holiday volunteering if you want.
You don't have to share leftovers (especially that last piece of pumpkin pie!) with a significant other.

Is it just me or does Jennifer Aniston catch a lot of flack for being single? It seems as though people pity her because she's been unlucky in love while her ex has moved on to be a happy family man, but are we more upset about her love life than she is? Sure, dealing with a failed relationship is tough, but Jennifer seems to be doing just fine on her own.

It's a common desire to meet someone you want to settle down with, but timing is everything and a connection is a must. We all know that finding a match is tough, but have you ever felt sorry for someone who's still on the search for their Mr. Right?

One of my closest friends is single. She does very well for herself and whenever she wants to treat herself to something nice, she buys herself a nice piece of jewelry. She's of the mindset that since she's single and has the means to do so herself, she shouldn't wait around for a man to buy things for her! Since I don't have a man to shower me with diamonds either, I'm OK with buying myself fun jewelry, but I've got to be honest with you, I'm willing to wait for the nice things to come from my future significant other. We are fast approaching wedding season, but prior to tying the knot, aren't there just a few things you want to do before entering into wedded bliss? If you need ideas, check out this entertaining Cosmo article on MSN that offers up 17 of them! Check out the list:

Date a guy who's totally wrong for you just because he has amazing abs.
Collect at least six country stamps on your passport, including one from a place that until recently you didn't even know existed.
Embrace feminine decor.
Take advantage of the whole bed.
Spend an embarrassing amount of money on a designer bag you love or heels that make you feel incredibly sexy.
Learn how to change a tire and work a drill.

The How-To Lounge: Being Single on New Year's Eve

Some people get bummed out if they're single on New Year's Eve and have no one to kiss at midnight. But this holiday is about way more than who you lock lips with when the ball drops. For some tips on how to enjoy New Year's as a single and fabulous woman, click here to read more.

New Year's is all about getting dressed up and celebrating the end of the year with the people you love, so try not to get too fixated on what you'll do come midnight.
If you're single, make plans with other single friends so you don't feel like the odd woman out.
I'm sure you will have a plethora of parties to choose from come Dec. 31, so go to the one where most of your friends will be.
As soon as the countdown starts, make sure to be surrounded by your friends. The best part about going to a big party is being able to celebrate with everyone, so hug and kiss all of your friends when the clock strikes midnight.
If you get lucky, or just tired, be sure to tell you're friends if you leave the party so someone knows where you are.

I hope these tips help you this New Year's. For the record, I have had my best New Year's Eves when I was single, just dancing and having fun, so I recommend doing the same! Be safe, don't drink and drive, and Happy New Year!
