Well, I could have told you that based on purely anecdotal evidence (i.e., growing up with a teenage brother), but now I've got the scientists to back me up. According to a new study out of the Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia, women are far more adept than men at cutting through fancy colognes to detect a dude's scent.
Apparently, men and women are equally skilled at detecting stink, but women aren't as easily fooled by cover-ups:
Underarm odors alone smelled equally strong to women and men.

Some guys seem to exude sex, a trait often attributed to pheromones, the chemical signals that people supposedly emit when they're in the mood. But turns out, scientists have never been able to find evidence of such pheromones in humans.
In an essay published in the journal Nature, scientists say they haven't pinned down so-called "releaser pheromones" in humans, which would trigger sexual desire.

I've heard that some women love how their man smells after he works out, and it turns out that musty aroma might be telling you more than you think. According to a recent study, the scent of a man's perspiration can subconsciously tell a woman that he's "in the mood."
Researchers in this study asked 20 heterosexual men to stop wearing antiperspirant and other scented products for a few days.

One of my friends recently told me that when her husband is out of town, she sleeps with one of his old t-shirts so she can snuggle with something that smells like him. It keeps the loneliness at bay and although it sounds a little childish, she's not alone. Researchers reported that as many as three-quarters of women admit they cuddle with clothing worn by their significant other when he or she is away.

I’m assuming we’re all fans of hygiene here, especially in regards to those around us, so I'm sure none us are too keen on a boy who only saves showers for special occasions. That said, there can be something particularly hot about a guy when you catch him just before he bathes. His own musk can be pretty amazing — it’s got to be the pheromones!

It looks like I am not alone when it comes to having a strong connection to remembering scents on a man — thank you for sharing all your favorite smells! Now let me ask you this. If you grew to really like a specific scent, but your ex boyfriend wore it, do you think it's taboo to buy the same cologne or after shave for your new boyfriend?

Since scent is one of the strongest senses tied to memory, it's no wonder women pay such close attention to the way their man smells. If I'm walking down the street and pick up the scent of an old boyfriend, I am immediately reminded of him and past memories. With that said, I can also easily recognize the smell of my boyfriend, or my dad, or even my brother, so ladies, if you have the same connection with scents as I do, do tell, what's your favorite scent on the man you love?

The power of scent is indescribably strong. A simple whiff can bring back memories of a special moment or person in your life. Smells can also affect your dreams while you sleep, and the unique way a person smells may play a part in who you choose for a mate.

I'm beginning to sense a pattern here. Add bacon to an incongruous product and create some controversy. Take these BLT-scented candles here--please.
