For the 37 percent of you who are currently in a long distance relationship, have you ever thought about how your travel to see one another affects the environment? If so, you might feel somewhat guilty about it, but after reading this Slate article, you definitely will! Planes and automobiles wreak havoc on our environment, so when you factor in how often you're seeing each other, you're only adding to our worsening environmental crisis.

Sexual stereotypes in relationships are still alive and kicking no matter how hard we try to fight them. Although it's getting more common for men to help with the housework, it's usually the women who end up picking up after their men. But when it comes to cooking, I think the playing field is a bit more even.

When people are in serious relationships, the rules for whether they can or should share their friends' secrets are complicated. In one way it seems completely natural, but then again, a secret is a secret, right? If a good friend is in a serious relationship, and I tell her a secret, I assume she’ll tell her significant other — whether she actually does, I don’t know, but I always make that assumption.

If a relationship lasts long enough, it's natural for thoughts about the long-term future to arise. And figuring out if you and your significant other are on the same wavelength can help you determine whether or not your relationship should continue.
But while considering the future is common, and often important, there's still something inherently scary and exciting when having a talk about marriage for the first time.

In relationships, there comes a point when you have to figure out if the person you're with is someone you want to make a further commitment to or if you should just cut your losses before things get any more serious. And when both people aren't on the same page, one person usually gets an itch to flee from the relationship even if things are perfectly fine otherwise. I have friends who are prone to this relationship itch — they're either commitment phobic or they just want to rock the boat — but whatever the reason, it seems to be a natural progression in many relationships.

Not everyone wears their feelings on their sleeves, but it's important to be able to express yourself when you need a shoulder to cry on, someone to share exciting news with, or someone to vent your frustration to. And while it's a common assumption that women are more emotional than men, guys can be impassioned too. Even if he doesn't cry in front of you, tell me, does your significant other show his emotion well?

I caught up on Monday night's episode of The City last night, and I have to say, Jay's late-night antics really made me doubt his trustworthiness. He's currently living with his girlfriend, Whitney, while he looks for a new apartment, and while she's home cozy in bed, he's out being the rock star that he is until the wee hours of the morning, doing who knows what!
I happen to agree with the saying "nothing good happens after midnight" — well, maybe 2 a.m.!
