Sex in Water - Is It Safe?

Having sex in water sounds so sensual, doesn't it? When you're swimming in a pool or lake, you're practically naked already, so why not slip off your bathing suit and get it on? But, wait: Is it safe to have sex in water?

Not exactly. Lake, river, ocean, and pond water contains bacteria. Having sex can introduce that bacteria into your vagina, which could put you at risk for infections that you don't want up there. Pool water, on the other hand, contains chemicals that could irritate your lady business.

Aside from health risks, the logistics just aren't with you on this one. Since lubrication is key when it comes to sex that feels good, you don't want to end up all washed out (literally). The water dissipates your natural moisture, so you're left with friction-filled sex that won't last long. What's worse is that if you're using a condom, the friction could cause a tear, and you won't be protected from pregnancy or STIs if the condom breaks.

Moving from smooching to screwing in the bath seems like a lovely plan, but the same lubrication problem you have in other bodies of water will arise in a bath too. So what about doing it in the shower? Again, the water will wash away the wetness you make naturally, and we know that sex without enough lubrication feels awful. You could move to the end of the shower where the water isn't beating down, but you'll just end up chilly and with sore muscles from trying to have sex while standing.

My advice? Sex + water = no fun. So make love without the water.

You always hear about some poor sap who falls in love with the female stripper he pays to be nice to him and "dance" in his lap. Watching these dudes on The Ricki Lake Show (how random was it that she had her own show?), I have a hard time imagining the reverse. They can have the hottest bodies in the world, but male strippers just make me - and a lot of women, I suspect - giggle. Has anyone actually gotten turned on watching a male stripper? Anyone, anyone?

Could You Ever Be in an Open Relationship?

I happened upon an essay by Sirenita Lake, a woman who will soon celebrate 23 years of non-monogamous marriage. Sirenita believes that being attracted to someone else in no way changes her commitment to her husband, because each relationship is separate. She also doesn't mind if her partners are non-monogamous, because she's not a jealous or competitive person.

Sirenita thinks it's time for people to stop feeling bad for straying from their partners:

Our beliefs about marriage are in permanent, unhealthy tension with reality, with around half of marital partners attempting to be monogamous against their nature, like gays in the past who tried to live straight.

Interesting. So Sirenita thinks that some people are naturally wired to be with multiple people at the same time. I guess that's fine with me, if, like Sirenita and her husband, both partners are in on the arrangement, which neutralizes dishonesty and betrayal. Otherwise, "I'm wired to be with that other woman" sounds like a convenient excuse for a cheater.

Middle School Students Catch Drunk Teacher on Video

Meet Kylene Nelson of Land O' Lakes, Florida. Her idea of pedagogical engagement is not to illustrate, say, math principles or something with pasta shells, but to start grinding up on her horrified eighth grade students with her pants hanging off her pantyless bum. This is not this alcoholic's first brush with trouble (let's call a spade a spade, shall we?). She skipped a teacher meeting one day only to be found passed out in her car surrounded by bottles of wine. C'mon Kylene, it's time to step up to the plate, lady!

For those of you still holding out for the existence of unicorns and winged fairies - there is hope after all! A pink dolphin (actually an albino) was spotted last year in a lake in Louisiana. Boatman Erik Rue found it and has been studying it ever since. "I just happened to see a little pod of dolphins," he said, "and I noticed one that was a little lighter." Bush Goes to Europe: President Bush has just departed for a farewell trip to Europe's major capitals, taking news of both concern for and confidence in the US economy. His first stop is Slovenia for his final US-European Union Summit. He will also visit Germany, Italy, France, England and Northern Ireland. Expressing concern about the economy and soaring energy prices (which hit $4 a gallon over the weekend and could go higher) Bush said in a departure statement that a strong dollar is in the US interest and the interest of the global economy.

Spainish Truckers Strike: While Europe waits for Bush, tens of thousands of Spanish truckers have begun an indefinite strike over the soaring price of diesel, which has risen by 20 percent this year. They stopped work at midnight and began disrupting traffic at one of the border crossings between Spain and France. The protesters prevented other trucks from passing, and shut down car traffic. Most of the 90,000 truckers participating have warned that many supermarkets will run out of goods within days. The head of the transportation association said, "we are the ones who move the goods that this country needs to keep working. If we stop because we haven't got the money to buy fuel then the country will stop."
Quake Lake Still Rising: The water level in an earthquake-formed lake in China is still rising, despite efforts to drain it. Early this morning, the water level was more than 6 feet higher than the man-made channel created to solve the problem. Experts say the lake could burst at any time, flooding the homes of more than one million people. A quarter of a million people have already been evacuated from the area since the earthquake that caused the quake lake to form. Government estimates now put the quake death toll at 69,136 with another 17,686 people missing.

NY Man Demands Estranged Wife Pay Him For Kidney - A Long Island surgeon embroiled in a nearly four-year divorce proceeding wants his estranged wife to return the kidney he donated to her, although he says he'll settle for $1.5 million in compensation.
Masked Man Waits in Line to Rob Bank - Wearing a ski mask, a 24-year-old man waited in line before he robbed an Ohio bank. Police arrested him after a brief car chase, explaining that bank robbers don't usually wait in line.
Policeman Attacked Using Own Patrol Car - An Australian outback policeman was pelted with rocks and beer bottles and his stolen patrol car was used to try and run him down.
PETA Asks Spearfish High School to Change Name to Sea Kitten High School - A PETA spokesperson says that children should be taught to refer to fish as "sea kittens" to show that fish are individuals just like cats and dogs. The animal rights groups thinks a name change could mean fewer fish killed for food or sport.
After Three-Hour Standoff Outside Shed, Police Find No One Inside - Salt Lake City police officers were in a three-hour standoff with themselves. After a woman said a man was in the shed with a gun, officers secured the area, and evacuated neighbors. Despite the tipster's suspicions, they eventually found nobody inside the shed.
