Not only does this defendant on Judge Judy not know how to provide intelligent testimony - you know, the kind that won't get her into trouble - she doesn't understand what a rhetorical question is. When Judge Judy tells you something isn't rocket science, and then asks you what rocket science is, don't define it, followed by an "I think . . ." Sigh.

Judge Judy's guests are usually at a loss for words when she mercilessly grills them. Not this defendant. When she asks him what possessed him to steal avocados from the irate plantiff's tree, his answer had me sold. I mean, unadorned nachos are kinda boring sometimes! What am I talking about? Earthquake in LA Yesterday Interrupts Judge Judy

The gods were smiling down on someone on the Judge Judy set yesterday in LA. There was a mild earthquake, and you can see in the clip here that the camera shakes and the plaintiff and defendant look pretty nervous. I don't know who was spared, but could being injured or dying from an earthquake be any worse than being verbally bitch slapped by Judge Don't Pee on My Leg and Tell Me It's Raining! Judy? I think not. Lucky bastards!

This woman terrifies me, but back in the day when I watched a lot of television, I loooved watching her rip people new ones. I've heard through the grapevine that when she was a "real" family court judge, she was insufferable and often times unfair. As a television personality and book-title-writer, however--her previous book was called "Beauty Fades, But Dumb Is Forever"--you gotta give it up for Judge Judy.

This debt collector who thinks he's hitting up a regular citizen has no idea he's "talking" to Judge Judy (or rather recordings of her charming voice). Does this guy not watch television? Her voice is pretty unmistakable. In any case, it's a ridiculous and high-larious conversation that consists of non-sequiturs and is made even funnier by the poor guy's repeated question "Ma'am, are you okay?"

You Asked: Why Is He So Judgmental?

Dear Sugar,

I'm 25 years old and have recently been dating a 27-year-old guy. On our first date he revealed a couple of mistakes he had made in his past. For many years he was addicted to prescription pain pills but has been clean now for two years. He was also engaged twice, and in both circumstances he asked for the rings back after they broke up.

I barely flinched when he told me about his past, because I'm more concerned about the present and the future. The real clincher here is that last weekend he asked me how many guys I had slept with. We had both been drinking, and after some pressure I told him 20. The next day he acted distant from me and told me that he was really shocked with my number. He's asked for some time to think things over because his opinion about me has changed. How can he be so quick to judge me when his past hasn't been exactly perfect? Should I give him time to think or cut my losses and move on? This problem has touched me deep inside so any advice would be greatly appreciated. - Being Judged Judy

Cardinal rule number one Judy - never talk about your sexual past with your current boyfriend, especially when you have both been drinking. Men are extremely territorial when it comes to their girlfriends, and they like to think they're the only person their girlfriend has ever had sex with. It sounds as though his ego is bruised by the fact that you have a higher number than him - ridiculous, I know, but true. Everyone knows that I'm a big proponent of honesty, but when it comes to divulging your number, always sugar-coat it, Judy! Regardless of how colorful your past was, it makes you who you are, and your boyfriend should understand that the same thing goes for him too.

Since the damage is done, you need to ask yourself if you want to be with someone who is judging you for your past when you aren't judging him for his. If this is going to cause recurring arguments, you need to get to the bottom of his anger ASAP or you'll be in for a very unhealthy relationship. It isn't fair for him to resent you for what you did before you knew each other, so if he can't let it go, you might want to move on and find someone who respects you for your past, present, and future.
