When girls get together, it's a time for them to talk about everything from their careers to their love lives, and all the fun stuff in between. And even if you have a few different groups of friends, there are usually reoccurring topics that get touched upon each and every time. When I'm with my friends, we catch up first but the conversation always finds its way back to men, dating, and relationships. Does this sound familiar? One of my favorite things to do on a girls' night out is head to a bar for some dancing. My friends and I have been having dance parties since college and I can only hope we’ll be having them when we’re little old ladies, too! But the problem is, every time we go out, the guys just won’t back off. Over the years, we’ve come up with a handy set of signals we use to get away from such pointless attempts at flirting, including code words and hand motions. I have a feeling you’ve experienced this too so do tell, do you have signs to alert your posse that you want away from a guy? If so, what are they?

DearSugar Needs Your Help: Should I Be Angry at Him?

DearSugar and Pregnant Patsy need your help. She just found out that she's pregnant, but at the age of 20, she and her boyfriend decided that the timing isn't right to have a baby. Everything is in motion for her abortion, but she's feeling an intense amount of anger toward her boyfriend and doesn't know why or if her feelings are valid. She could use any support you can offer, so weigh in with your advice.

Dear Sugar,

I am 20 and just recently found out I'm pregnant with my current boyfriend's baby. I have suspected that I have been pregnant for a few weeks now, with a period nowhere to be found, constant fatigue, and an appetite that never seems to end. We love each other very much and already plan on spending the rest of our lives together, but we already knew we did not want to keep the baby because it is just not the right time in our lives - we are way too young to be parents right now.

My girlfriends took me to a YWCA clinic and have put everything in motion for me, including an unconditional amount of support of my situation and decision. My abortion is next week. What I wanted to ask about is why I feel so angry toward my boyfriend? I am no longer affectionate toward him, even though it hurts me not to be. Since I found out I was pregnant, I have not liked kissing him, or even having him sleep in the same bed as me. And when I feel he doesn't spend enough time with me during this time, I use the pregnancy excuse to make him stay. I don't like hurting his feelings, or keeping him from hanging out with his friends, but I just feel that I deserve a little more attention in my fragile state than to be ignored for the boys, video games, or any other reason.

Is it normal to feel this way, or am I just being a cry baby?

Group Therapy: Forcefully Set Up

I am single but most of my girlfriends are in serious relationships. I love hanging out with them, but lately it seems like they are desperate to find me a match. Not necessarily the right match, just any match. Last week, I went to a bar with a girlfriend to meet a bunch of friends. Everyone there was coupled up except for one guy. He was older and so not right for me but since I was the only single girl, and he was the only single guy, everyone was pushing me on him. This isn't the first time I've ended up in a situation like this. It's extremely uncomfortable for me so the next time it happens, what should I do? How can I let my in-relationship-friends know that I don't want to be set up with every single guy without hurting their feelings?

Do You Gossip With Your Significant Other?

If so, I'm sure you're not alone, but I think it's a common misconception that it's mostly women who gossip. Every man I know, especially my dad, loves to be in the know and let's face it, men are sometimes even more fun to gossip with than women! Sex is the most intimate way to connect with someone. It can be romantic, erotic, and adventurous, but as we all know, it can also be not so perfect or glamorous. Great friendships don't happen overnight which is why I cherish the relationships I have with my girlfriends so very much. Yesterday, I spent the afternoon with a friend visiting from out of town and it was hard for either one of us to get words in edgewise! We found ourselves talking over each other and we couldn't stay on track since we had so much to catch up on. Dear Sugar--
I have always been somewhat of a "lone wolf" and I have started to look at isolation as heaven. My friends ignore me, talk behind my back and are not considerate to me. We used to all have fun together, but now, THEY have fun and have inside jokes while I politely stand by waiting for them to acknowledge I am there. I think it might be because they have "known each other for SO long" and I am a "work friend" that just moved here without knowing anyone. Should I just stop trying to be their friend or keep on putting forth the effort in hopes they open up their circle to me? I know this seems like a stupid question, but it is really hard not knowing anyone and having the comforts of a best friend to turn to. I'm sensitive, but I also hate pity parties. --Left out Olivia

Is this a scene straight out of Mean Girls? I am sorry you are feeling left out of your new circle of friends -- unfortunately girls can be incredibly catty and hateful to each other, but know that most of the time women act that way out of insecurity. Although I am sure it doesn't make you feel any better about the situation, rest assured that you most likely aren't doing anything wrong. Have you confronted these women about the way their actions are making you feel? Have you suggested any ways to get to know each other better or work on your friendships?

Moving to a new city and making all new friends is not an easy task, but if these women continue to make you feel badly about yourself or if they make you feel like you are not good enough for them, it sounds like you would be better off starting from scratch and finding a new circle. Join a gym, or get involved in your community. Enroll in a local book club or read in a coffee shop. The more you get out there, the easier it is to meet new people. Just because you work with these women, it doesn't mean you need to be their best friend. You don't deserve to be treated poorly just because you haven't known them for "so long" so if I were you, I would stop trying now before you get yourself too invested in each other's lives.
