This Tree Belongs to No Dog!

This double dose of bad punctuation - extraneous quotation marks and an unnecessary apostrophe - has me confused. Are dogs allowed or not? Or is the tree just trying to say that he's no dog's in particular? Either way, dogs: It's probably best if you just stay away.

I was reading geeksugar the other day and discovered the most amazing photo gallery evah: YoungMe - NowMe. The challenge: Peeps dig up old childhood pics, reenact them, and post themselves - then and now - on the site. It's amazing how all those diaper indiscretions, kitchen floor drum solos, and heinous sailor outfits that were so cute then are so not cute (but 10 times more brilliant and photoworthy) now. Who says adults can't be childish and get away with it? Check out the site and, if you're up to the challenge, submit your own photos and kid around with your grown self!

Greatest Science Fair Photos Ever

Why, oh, why do they inflict science fairs on already awkward teens? It's not like some pimply 14-year-old is going to locate the gene that will let us all live to be 150 or suddenly discover alternative fuel sources. (Okay, maybe - but not likely.) In any case, check out these photos of hormonally-challenged adolescents standing in front of their awesomely titled exhibits, all of which manage to sound like band names. "Anyone wanna go see Code of Meniscus with me tonight? Electro Worms are opening up for them. I hear they're really sick."

Jackie O in (Vintage) Nude Photo Scandal!

A word to the wise: naked photos can always resurface - even decades later. As archivists sort through 610 boxes full of memorabilia and junk collected by the late Andy Warhol, they recently stumbled upon an autographed nude photo of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Jackie O was a frequent muse to the packrat artist and apparently gifted him a naked poster signed, "For Andy, with enduring affection, Jackie Montauk." Matt Wrbican, who is overseeing the project of the Andy Warhol Foundation, says the handwriting matches that of Onassis, who often visited Warhol's Montauk, NY, beachhouse. Here's more:

So, after her second husband, Aristotle Socrates Onassis, got a paparazzi to take pictures of her skinny-dipping and it landed in the hands of Larry Flynt, who turned it into a poster for his porn magazine, Hustler, Jackie O sent a copy – likely as a joke – to Warhol, Wrbican said.

Wow, those guys are lucky that Jackie had a good sense of humor about the whole thing. In another funny twist, the relic was found amid junk ranging from receipts to fan mail and even Caroline Kennedy's wedding cake. Just goes to show you never know where things will turn up.

Book Bag: Awkward Family Photos Blog Gets a Deal

One of my favorite web finds of the past few months, Awkward Family Photos, is moving from photo blog to photo album. In a fairly predictable development, the bloggers behind this brilliantly funny site just scored a book deal with Three Rivers press. So now you can have not only your awkward family photos adorning your coffee table, but other people's, too!

Bloggers Mike Bender and Doug Chernack have been hearing from agents every since the blog debuted in May; the book is slated for release in May 2010. If you need something to read between now and then, I've got you covered.

I'm glad to see quality blogs getting book deals, but I'm also skeptical. A concept like Awkward Family Photos is so perfect for the web - why confine it to the more static book format? Then again, it worked for Post Secret and Stuff White People Like. What do you think?

10 Things I Learned From Watching the Bachelorette

Having seen The Bachelor more seasons than I care to admit, I will say that having a bevy of women vying for your attention looks more fun for the man than 25 30 men vying for a woman's attention. (Here are the guys.) Watching Jillian walk into a room full of boozed-up bachelors wanting to talk to her made me uncomfortable for her. No wonder she was sucking down those Chardonnays.
It's hard to break-dance in a white, form-fitting, charmeuse gown.
Some men really, really identify with their jobs. (Pilot dude, I'm talking to you.)
Being sincere and yourself (Kiptyn, Ed) is so much more attractive than acting a part (Juan, Kyle.)
Sadly, sometimes being sincere isn't enough (sorry, Adam).

It's true - funny often trumps hunky. (Break-dancer guy over square-jawed, humorless bohunks.)
Having a man you don't know sing you a love song he wrote for you is . . . weird not romantic.
I now know that if a man asks you to take your shoes off within moments of meeting you and can't make eye contact with you, but also isn't looking at your chest but rather stealing furtive glances down to your feet, he probably has a foot fetish.
Men have some odd names these days. (Mathue. Kiptyn. Two Tanners - Tanner P. and Tanner F.? Really?)
There's not enough money in the world you could give me to be on a reality-dating show.

Do Your Co-Workers Fool Around While on the Clock?

If you watch The Office, you know that the employees of Dunder Mifflin are always up to no good, which is usually orchestrated by their boss, Michael. Sometimes their antics are endearing and promote team building, but mostly they're just wasting time and energy. While I'm pretty confident that no other workplace is anywhere near as ridiculous, I'm curious to know if you participate in any wild, funny, or just plain silly activities while on the clock. If so, tell us about them - it's Friday and I think we could all use a good laugh!
