5 Things to Be Grateful For When You're Single

Thanksgiving is the one holiday dedicated to being grateful for what you have, something we could all do a lot more of if you ask me. While it's sometimes easier to see the glass half empty than half full, I thought I'd put together a list of five things to be thankful for if you're single this Thanksgiving, if you're in a relationship, and if you're spending the holiday with your family. You don’t have to worry about anyone’s holiday plans but your own.
You can spend your holiday volunteering if you want.
You don't have to share leftovers (especially that last piece of pumpkin pie!) with a significant other.
You don't have to worry about meeting anyone's family.
You can spend all your free time doing what you want to do!

How Do I Handle This Strip Club Situation?

First of all my husband and I have been married for half of a year now. He's in the Navy and just got deployed, but right before the deployment he was sent to Hawaii for one day. I dropped him off at the airport and it was so hard for me to let him go. He called from Hawaii and we talked for five minutes then he said he had to go and he would call back.

As I was checking our bank account to check on the bills I noticed he had paid to go in to some type of club. While crying my eyes out because of how much I already missed him and knowing he wasn't coming home any time soon, I waited for him to call back. When he finally did I got him to tell me the truth and it turned out to be a strip club. This was his first time going into a strip club. The problem is that I feel so offended and disrespected. I know I'm not unattractive, and I'm very open minded in our sex life. So to me it seems as if I'm not enough for him, and that he didn't care about how I feel about strip clubs. The fact that he was lusting over those girls makes me so angry and upset.

When we talked I was so mad and disappointed and couldn't stop crying. But after a while I realized that I've been told not to say anything negative or upsetting to him since he was going on deployment to a very stressful environment. I won't be able to talk to him at all while he's gone, I can only send emails but I can't confront him there either. So I had to pretend that I got over it and that I was OK, so he wouldn't feel bad and guilty. But in reality I feel so disgusted and can't take the thought of him wanting someone else. I'm alone and don't have any family here, this is our first deployment and I'm still trying to handle it. He made things so much worse for me, now I'm not just worried about his safety, but also at the thought of when he goes to a port he's going to cheat on me. I'm just hurt and feel resentment towards him, but for as long as he's out I have to pretend I'm fine and support him through the emails. I know some people might think I'm over reacting, but to me this is just like cheating.

"What Is His Deal?"

My friend (let’s call her Laura) recently introduced me to a good male friend of hers (let’s call him Mark) at a Halloween party. Mark and I had a good time talking to each other and he emailed my friend a day later to tell her that he thought I was really nice. He then found me on Facebook and asked me out for the following weekend, to which I said yes.

We texted a few times and flirted a little bit. However, when the weekend came he got sick (I was sick too so I didn’t mind that we weren’t going to meet, although I didn’t tell him that). But now it’s been a week and I haven’t heard anything from him, no texts, no nothing. I think this is a little strange since he was the one who initially pursued me. Plus he’s friends with my friend so I didn’t think he would just ditch our plans. There is such a thing as politeness and I’m a little surprised that he hasn’t called me to let me know that he’s still sick, or busy, or whatever. So, I don’t know what to do if and when he calls. Should I go out with him? He’s already demonstrated that he can’t keep me in the loop.

Lack of Communication With Husband After Layoff

My husband recently got laid off from his job. He is lucky because he was given 30 days to try and find a new position within the company before he's officially let go. He has a prospective job in another area of the company, but I am not sure where everything stands. He just won't communicate with me and let me know what's going on. It's very hard for me to be in the dark about whether or not he will have a job in a couple weeks, and it feels like he has completely closed off communication regarding this job situation.

When I ask if he's heard anything, he is always very vague and claims that he doesn't have any new information, but there have been a couple times when I have seen over his shoulder that he has gotten emails from the people involved with this potential job, so there must be some sort of news. How do I explain to him that behind left in the dark about our situation is really stressing me out?

Meditation, Anyone?

I've never done a lot of meditating, but I think it might be time to start. In these turbulent times, I know so many people who are looking for an anchor (or maybe a life preserver?) with nowhere to turn. Perhaps meditation can provide the peace that external influences seem bent on robbing us of these days. Do you meditate? If you do, what type of meditation? How has it helped you?

Sex Once Every Two Weeks?

Sex once a week or every two weeks - is this normal? I feel like my boyfriend has lost interest in me. I've tried to spice it up a bit, but I don't know what else to do! I talk to him, and all he says is that I take the fun out by asking and nagging him about it all the time. So I try not to say anything and then nothing ever happens, or after a week or so he just wants oral. We have some of the best sex I've ever had and I'd be fine having sex daily - I'm so attracted to him! We live together and have for about a year now. Sometimes I wonder if that takes the spice out of it. I try to not just be a roommate though and to still be the girlfriend I was before. He just isn't very affectionate either; maybe that has something to do with it. I find it difficult to try to turn on someone who I can't make out with anytime of the day or touch him without him freaking out. What is his deal?! Do I dare say anything about him going to the doctor for Viagra? He's only 26!

Levi Johnston to Bare All in Playgirl - Will You Buy the Issue?

It's now 100 percent confirmed that Levi Johnston will bare 100 percent in Playgirl, but don't worry - the photos of the 19-year-old Sarah Palin nightmare will be "tastefully done." The teen dad will shoot the pics on Nov. 16, the same day Levi's ex-future-mother-in-law Sarah Palin is set to make an appearance on Oprah. Yesterday, Sarah Palin chastised Levi for "selling his body" - but Levi says his nude shoot is no big deal, explaining: "I just get naked. That's what I do."

Erotic magazines for women have had a hard time finding a formula that works. Perhaps attracting good-looking, infamous men like Levi Johnston will give this genre the hype it needs to go mainstream, but there's no guarantee that this type of porn will actually turn women on. Maybe curious women (and men) can still want to see someone naked even if they're not attracted to him. Now that we know Levi is baring all, will you pick up the magazine? Why are dogs so carefree about barking? Why are birds so cavalier about chirping? Why do lions feel they’ve earned the right to roar? I’m not afraid to make a fourth animal analogy if it helps to illustrate the point that these species are meant to do these things - just as guys are meant to fart. It’s our body’s way of communicating with you. It’s saying, “Hey, I feel really comfortable around you, Leslie,” or “Wow, those enchiladas are passing through me like a fu**ing freight train.”

There are plenty of repressed guys out there who actually aren’t big farters, but running into the arms of a gas-free companion might not be the utopia you think it is. If a guy is sealing up his rear hole, then chances are he’s sealing up his other holes too. Like his fun hole and his emotional hole. It’s your choice, you can be with a guy with sealed holes, or you can learn to appreciate a natural, open-hearted gesture for what it is – and instead of rolling your eyes the next time your guy breaks wind, try looking over at him and whispering, “I feel close to you too. Make love to me, you smelly son-of-a-bitch.”

According to NGOs, 90 Percent of Afghan Women Are Abused

This sobering CNN video takes us into one of only a dozen women's shelters in Kabul, Afghanistan. According to nongovernmental agencies, 90 percent of Afghan women are victims of domestic abuse.

One woman is at the shelter trying to escape 15 years of abuse from her husband for not being able to conceive a child. As she speaks, a slash on her throat is visible and highlighted by stitches. She would like to see her family again, but she fears she will be killed if she goes home. Another woman has tried to kill herself three times to escape the abuse of a man who often chained her to a wall, setting her free only when it was time for her to cook. In a country where women are viewed as property, even children aren't spared. A 9-year-old tells her story of being raped at age five.

Manizha Naderi, the director for Women for Afghan Women, risks her life to take them in. Listen to her explain the way that the expectation for how women are treated is handed down from generation to generation. By providing a safe space, Naderi lets them know they have an option.
