I'm sure most of you will be attending your fair share of holiday parties this year so I thought it'd be a good idea to share its four suggestions with you, and offer up four of my own, too! Even at its best, a trip to the gynecologist is usually pretty uncomfortable and can be down right awkward. Since going to a doctor’s appointment already makes most of us feel vulnerable, being naked in front of a doctor only makes things even more nerve-wracking. Anxiety, discomfort, nudity, and discussing sex and birth control are just about the perfect equation for an embarrassing moment to arise. So ladies, do tell, have you ever had an embarrassing mishap at the gyno?

This or That: He's Too Comfortable or He's Uncomfortable?

If there is such a thing as Mr. Right, you've met him and he really is perfect for you. You guys get along great, he makes you smile, and you both have similar life goals. In fact, you two have become very close in a short period of time. You feel very comfortable with him, which should make some of his grosser habits less bothersome, but even you think it’s too soon for all of the glamour to disappear. Would it be worse if he . . .

This: Had absolutely no problem passing gas wherever and whenever? Okay, it’s only at his place, but still, some things are best left unshared unless it’s an absolute emergency.

Or . . .

That: Can’t seem to stop scratching and groping at his nether regions, with public places as no exception? You’ve offered to buy him some new underwear, but he just doesn’t seem to get it; your friends have even noticed!

Group Therapy: How Can I Prevent Fa*ting From Happening During Sex?

This is obviously an embarrassing question to ask but you girls are the best! I have a little issue....almost every time I have sex with my boyfriend, I fart. It's not like I'm holding it in or anything it just happens and I feel like I have no control over it. I know my boyfriend hears it but he's never said anything, thank GOD! It freaks me out to the point where once we're done with sex I don't want to cuddle with him or anything because I'm so disgusted with myself and feel (even though he pulls me over to cuddle) that he is disgusted with me as well. It's even gotten to the point where I'm so terrified of trying anal (even though I have been dying to) because I'm scared it will happen or maybe something worse! So ladies, any ideas or ways to prevent this from happening?

I'm sure the majority of you would agree - a first dinner date can be really stressful. There's nothing more humiliating than sitting at a table with an empty place-setting staring you in the face while you check your watch relentlessly if your date is late. Don't pull out your cell phone and text your friends incessantly. This only makes you look as uncomfortable as you feel.
Order a drink while you wait. Slowly sipping a glass of wine or a cocktail will soothe your worried mind and give you the look of a girl just out for a drink. Do a little drink research before you head out, and you'll feel that much more confident ordering solo.
Check out the menu. There's no reason why you can't take a glance while you're waiting. It'll also keep your eyes busy, so when he does finally show up, you won't look like you were scanning the room for him.
Start up a conversation with your waiter. He or she might be running around, but if you ask for a drink or an entree recommendation, chances are they'll be happy to chat for a second or two. A few smiles and you're guaranteed attentive service for the remainder of your night.

The How-To Lounge: Handling Embarrassing Moments

I don’t care who you are; embarrassing moments happen to all of us. But countering a humiliating situation with awkwardness only makes it worse. Instead, with a little grace, it’s easy to put an embarrassing situation behind you in no time. Unless you’ve made a serious mistake - think political sex scandal - the best fix is to just laugh it off. Wouldn’t you rather people were laughing with you than at you? So find the humor in the situation and have a good belly laugh.
Once you’ve laughed it off, don’t continue to draw attention to the incident. Talking about it endlessly isn’t going to erase anything from anyone’s mind.
For whatever reason, even if we stop referencing our slipups directly, we sometimes end up channeling our embarrassment into our actions for some time afterwards. Again, this doesn’t help anything and only serves to create the potential for more awkward moments, so just act normal.
If others continue to bring it up, don’t get angry or attack them. Should you find that your feelings are hurt by their commentary, it’s OK to let them know. Just say that you feel foolish and you’d like to let it go.
If your embarrassing mishap is something more serious, the best method to get through it as quickly as possible is to confront it head on. Acknowledge your mistake, make an apology if necessary, allow for others to talk about it, and then, move on.

Just remember that no matter what foolish mistake you make, someone else has done something worse and made it through - and you will too!
