It looks like I am not alone when it comes to having a strong connection to remembering scents on a man - thank you for sharing all your favorite smells! Now let me ask you this. If you grew to really like a specific scent, but your ex boyfriend wore it, do you think it's taboo to buy the same cologne or after shave for your new boyfriend?

Smells like Vatican spirit. We're told from the marketing copy that The Pope's Cologne, a "fresh fragrance from the past," has notes of violet and citrus, and I imagine, the more elusive notes of renunciation and piety. Some dude in San Rafael, California decided there'd be a run on the market for smelling like Pope Pius IX (1792-1878). You know, on second thought, he might have a marketing angle there. Given that the market is saturated with perfumes that suggest decadence, sin, and just plain skankiness (Dior Addict, Gucci Envy, and Paris Hilton's Heiress), maybe we need a little whiff of Pope-itude. (Thanks for this bizarre find, mgod!)

Product of the Day: Play-Doh Cologne

What immediately comes to mind when you think of Play-Doh? Surely, not the noise of popping open a fresh can of it, or the colorful look of it, or the manufactured taste of it (wait...what do you mean it's not edible?), or the gooey feel of it, but the overwhelming fragrance that accompanied it. You know the smell well. It was a crafty, chemical smell that was the odd byproduct of mixing together three simple ingredients: water, salt, and flour.

In celebration of Play-Doh's 50th anniversary, a limited edition cologne has been developed "for highly-creative people, who seek a whimsical scent reminiscent of their childhood." In other words, this scent is for all of us "adults" who are proud kids at heart and want to kick our immaturity into high gear by smelling like kids at play. Whew! Good luck with that.

So, for those who refuse to grow up: spray-and-go with Play Doh!...And thanks KrissyThePirate for sending this our way!

If men listened to television ads, they'd think that smaller was better (BK Burger Bites), that women love the smell of rancid cologne (Axe), and that you can cover up the fact that you haven't bathed or washed your sheets in ages (Febreze). Not only that, but they'd think that really hot chicks don't just put up with that stuff - they looove it! (And we wonder why men and women have trouble knowing what the other half wants.)

Global research site OnePoll.com asked 15,000 women from 20 countries to rate the men they've slept with based on their country of origin, and the results are in: Germans were ranked the world's worst lovers because of their rankness, Brits came in second because they're "lazy," and the Swedes were deemed "too quick to finish," finishing third in this list no man wants to be on.

I like a little natural body odor on my bedmates (it beats a dude who reeks of cheap cologne), so I'm not sure this list works for everyone. But lazy and too quick? These can't be positive attributes of any lover.

I love that, although there were reasons listed for why certain men sucked in bed, the men who were considered good in bed needed no explanation at all. To modify the first line of Tolstoy's Anna Karenina: "All ~~happy families~~ good lovers are alike; each ~~unhappy family~~ bad lover is ~~unhappy~~ bad in ~~its~~ his own way." Women More Sensitive to Stinkiness Than Men

Well, I could have told you that based on purely anecdotal evidence (i.e., growing up with a teenage brother), but now I've got the scientists to back me up. According to a new study out of the Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia, women are far more adept than men at cutting through fancy colognes to detect a dude's scent.

Apparently, men and women are equally skilled at detecting stink, but women aren't as easily fooled by cover-ups:

Underarm odors alone smelled equally strong to women and men. But when fragrances were introduced, only two of 32 fragrances blocked underarm odor when women were doing the sniffing, compared with 19 fragrances that blocked the odor for men.

The scientists surmise that women are better at detecting "biologically relevant" information - perhaps whether he's in the mood or sweating out pheromones. So does that mean BO can help you pick a sig-o?

If your boyfriend, husband, best friend or brother needs a few helpful hints about keeping it clean but keeping it real, he need look no further. The answer is simple: we like a dash of metro and a splash of macho!

While slightly unpolished is sexy, there's a time and a place and a way to be dirty. Overall, we like you much better fresh, and nothing says fresh like a close shave. According to How to Iron You Own Damn Shirt, a British aftershave maker found that 92% of women prefer their men to have a clean shave, while 63% of men think they look more attractive with facial hair. Fellas, if you're in doubt, you might ask your lady how she prefers your cheek to feel!

Dear Poll: Do You Like Him Freshly Showered or Au Naturale?

I’m assuming we’re all fans of hygiene here, especially in regards to those around us, so I'm sure none us are too keen on a boy who only saves showers for special occasions. That said, there can be something particularly hot about a guy when you catch him just before he bathes. His own musk can be pretty amazing - it’s got to be the pheromones! On the other hand, good-smelling cologne and aftershave can be incredibly sexy, too. Obviously I’m torn, so which do you prefer?
