As much as I love
Chloe Sevigny's crazy style, I think she's responsible not only for some ugly '80s fashions we're seeing on hipsters everywhere, but even worse, the smug attitudes these folks have about their oh-so-daring fashion forwardness. (
Vice Magazine plays a big part in this phenomenon, too.) And thus is born, today's Word of the Day:
Smugly \smug-ly\: The state of being both poorly dressed and arrogant about one's purported fashion-forwardness.

Haha, I totally love that!
1Chloe Sevigny is SOOO smugly!
2I love that word!
3Great word. Down with slouchy elephant boots, neon leggings, and trashy jumpsuits! (And what's with the BMX bikes these days?)
The funny thing about VICE, and this style in particular, is that there's a very fine line between "do" and "don't"--which, I suspect, depends on whether you're a friend of the staff or not. Or whether you're a hot chick or not.
4Haha. I love it! There is just too much smugliness out there not to have a word for it.
5The "IT" in the picture with a green shirt is A: a guy in drag with boobs, or B:a girl that is on her way to a successful sex change...haha gotta love it

13Yesterday's fashion is the fashion of the future. I'm sure someone out there has a new style. At least now I have a hip new word to use to describe these people!
14Great word and so true!
15I'm so gonna call someone "smugly" next time I go out. There's an ABUNDANCE of them where I live...
