Handle This: Your Date Can't Afford to Take You Out

Recently you were asked out on a date by a guy who works in your building. For your first date, he takes you on a fun factory tour of a local brewery, and you guys grab slices of pizza afterward. On the next date he takes you to his favorite burrito place and then an art gallery. Most recently you guys hit up a dive bar. You love that he’s zany, and you really connect with him in a way you haven't with a guy in a long time.

But when you ask if he'll come with you to a friend's birthday party at a sit-down restaurant, he says yes but only if you pay, since he’s broke. You don't mind paying, but since you know he has a job, you can't help but wonder if he's really broke or just cheap. How would you handle this?

Cheap friends?

This girl friend of mine is driving me bonkers with how cheap she is. She constantly tries to underpay when we go out to eat and is just in general totally cheap.

Example: A group of us orders a pizza. She says she'd like to only pay $2 because she's going to eat only one slice. That's fine, but then when there were slices left over she asked us all if she could take them home with her. We didn't know a polite way to say no so we let her.

Every time we want to get dinner she asks if we can eat somewhere cheap or, worse, if someone can just host the dinner so she doesn't have pay at all.

Now, if she were poor, I would understand. But she is rich! I know what she makes because I used to work for the same company and it's a lot of money.

Every time she talks about money or needing to save money I just want to scream! It's getting to the point where social situations together aren't fun because I'm just waiting to see what cheap stunt she pulls next.

She's part of a larger group of friends who are near and dear so I can't cut her loose. Any ideas on how to handle?

Microsoft recently suspended an ad campaign featuring Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld because no one liked it and it failed to make them look cool. (I love ya, Jerry, but since when does Jerry Seinfeld make anything look cool?) I'm sure they spent a bajillion dollars on it, and it doesn't come close to the awesomeness of this Dirt Cheap commercial. The message is simple. The "actors" in it (and I use the term loosely, unless you count a person in a chicken suit an actor) are charming. And it makes me want to go buy booze from Dirt Cheap. What more could you ask for? "Cheep, cheep!"

After Sex Shirt - Hilarious or Horrifying?

The makers of this shirt call it "sexy" and "chic," but I would use the adjectives "large" and "direct" to describe it. Either way, the garment promises to "enhance the glow of a romantic encounter."

At $15, it's not exactly a cheap laugh, but it could make for a silly version of a naughty nightie. Oh and just FYI - it only comes in three sizes: 3XL, 4XL, and 5XL. I guess we don't have to worry about too many people leaving the house wearing this thing.

Are Teens Growing Up Too Fast or Too Slowly?

When I first saw this headline on Newsweek, "Why Teenagers Are Growing Up So Slowly Today," I thought, whaaa? With all the sexting and drugs, aren't teens growing up too fast?

Just because teens are doing adult things doesn't mean they are acting like adults, argue Joseph Allen and Claudia Worrell Allen, authors of Escaping the Endless Adolescence. By sheltering adolescents from work and other grownup issues in cookie-cutter high schools, we may be preventing their brains from maturing. Says Allen: "We don’t give teens enough ways to take risks that are productive." That results in bad risky behavior for cheap thrills and a generation of 25 year olds who act like teenagers. Do you think there's any truth to the argument that not treating teens like adults actually stunts their adulthood?

Others, like the following women, will settle for Charmin, Cheap Chic Weddings, and Ripley's Believe It or Not! They're winners in the fourth annual design-a-wedding-dress-with-toilet-paper contest. They could only use TP, tape, paper, and glue. Dang - these dresses are awesome! I just hope they were allowed to use 3-ply. They look pretty delicate.

Global research site OnePoll.com asked 15,000 women from 20 countries to rate the men they've slept with based on their country of origin, and the results are in: Germans were ranked the world's worst lovers because of their rankness, Brits came in second because they're "lazy," and the Swedes were deemed "too quick to finish," finishing third in this list no man wants to be on.

I like a little natural body odor on my bedmates (it beats a dude who reeks of cheap cologne), so I'm not sure this list works for everyone. But lazy and too quick? These can't be positive attributes of any lover.

I love that, although there were reasons listed for why certain men sucked in bed, the men who were considered good in bed needed no explanation at all.
