The hashtag #reason2haveguybestfriend is currently trending on Twitter. And it got us thinking, what are the perks of your bestie being a guy vs. a girl? Here's what we came up with.

Reasons to have a guy best friend:

There won't be that underlying competitive streak in the relationship that's sometimes unavoidable with a girlfriend.
Guys understand their fellow gender better than we do, so they have a more accurate jerk-dar when it comes to potential love interests.
From "Does this haircut look good on me?" to "Am I being too needy?" a guy friend won't sugarcoat the truth, which we need sometimes.
Arguments and fights are inevitable in any relationship, but guys tend to put it all out there instead of holding it in and being passive-aggressive.
As antifeminist as it might sound, sometimes it's nice to have a guy friend when your car dies, you need to put together an Ikea bookcase, or there's some sort of bug infestation in your apartment.

Why it's not such a great idea:

A guy friend can never fully "get" what it's like to be a woman, so there will always be those moments when we need a fellow lady friend who doesn't run away when we are being an emotional, irrational basket case.
That inevitable When Harry Met Sally rule: someone in the friendship always falls for the other. We've seen it time and time again; things get complicated the minute one person starts to want more out of the relationship than being "just friends."

Girls Aren't Mean, Just Exclusive

Boys will be boys, but girls will be mean. That's a cultural stereotype, but now research has pinpointed what causes that amorphous and unpleasant dynamic to flourish so well in estrogen-laden grounds. It's competitive and judgmental, it aims right for the self-conscious, and it's very powerful. But it's not mean; well, not mean-spirited anyway.

Joyce Benenson of Emmanuel College and Harvard University found that women and men socialize in completely different ways. Women prefer close, one-on-one relationships, while men prefer groups. It's why women are far more likely to have best friends than men.

But when conflict arises, men fare better. Because they socialize in groups, they're less likely to be devastated by someone leaving or coming, while women are biologically programmed to feel threatened. Because they're used to having fewer, more intimate relationships, the ousting of a former friend or the coming of a new one causes them to fear exclusion. This, according to Benenson, is what causes females to round up the troops, build a fortress of friends, and get cliquey.

I can say with absolute certainty I've seen this cliquey behavior in men, but I can also say I've seen it even more in women. Whatever. Biology can't sit with us at lunch today!

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt celebrated a very special Valentine's Day in Sarajevo tonight at a screening of In the Land of Blood and Honey. Brad and Angelina arrived in Bosnia earlier in the day fresh off a layover in Berlin where she was honored last night with the Cinema for Peace award. The pair are back together after being apart while he traveled to London on Sunday for the BAFTA Awards. Brad didn't take home a new trophy, though he did get to hang out with fellow nominee and close friend George Clooney.

The Jolie-Pitts are traveling without their six children at the moment; however, Brad says the kids love joining them on the road. During his recent taping of Inside the Actors Studio Brad talked about traveling as a family, and that each person is responsible for packing their own bag. Award season will bring Brad and Angelina back to LA soon enough for the Feb. 26 Oscar ceremony where he is among the leading men in contention for year's best actor.

Talking during class: It's disruptive and inconsiderate to the other students in class trying to focus and relax, but it also means you're not giving your own practice the attention it deserves. If you feel the need to catch up with a friend, make plans to do something after class ends.
Ringing cell phone, or worse - answering it: Everyone is quietly moving through Sun Salutations and all of a sudden a phone rings and shatters the serenity. Always remember to turn your ringer off. If you're expecting an important phone call that can't be missed, place your phone on vibrate next to your mat and be sure to take the call outside.
Coming to class sick to sweat out your germs: No one wants to breathe in your germs. The teacher especially doesn't want to assist you if you're sick and absolutely can't stand when you leave your snotty tissues on the floor next to your mat. Take this opportunity to explore your home practice; return to the studio when you're healthy.

5 Ways to Make Moving a Habit

We all should take time to relax, but sometimes we don't realize just exactly how sedentary our lives can be. Even if you devote an hour to exercise most days, if you're not moving a lot the rest of the time, you can be doing more harm than good. So start making moving a habit with these five tips.

Keep track: One of the best ways to encourage yourself to move is to get a fitness monitor that tracks your steps. You don't have to invest a lot - while more sophisticated trackers (like these five fitness monitors) track your steps as well as your exercise (some can also distinguish between walking on flat ground and when you're going up steps), you can buy a basic pedometer for just a few dollars.
Try a one-minute move: Whether you're folding laundry or watching TV, multitask by building muscle while you work. Take a one-minute break to dance around or do squats, lunges, or planks, and you'll raise your heartbeat as well as your energy levels.

As old superstitions fade and Emily Post-like etiquette evolves, you're probably not counting the number of roses or orchids or hydrangeas you received today (or, like most people, didn't). But the number of roses a man once gave a woman held hidden meanings, so check out what your Valentine either intentionally or, more likely, unintentionally told you today.

One rose: Love at first sight, or years later "you are still the one."
Two roses: Mutual love and affection . . . so you may owe him two roses!
Three roses: The traditional three-month anniversary gift also simply means "I love you."
Six roses: Infatuation, or "I want to be yours."
Nine roses: A big jump up from six, nine roses symbolize eternal love or "I want to be with you forever."
10 roses: A perfect 10 means "You are perfection."
12 roses: A dozen is like picking the best heart from a Sweetheart candy box, it means "Be Mine."
13 roses: Thirteen may be a baker's dozen, but not so in love. Its meaning is actually disputed: Teleflora says it means you'll be friends forever, but several other sources, like Love Letter Box, say it means you have a secret admirer.
15 roses: Does he have a reason to apologize? Because 15 roses means "I'm sorry." If not, take it as credit for future remorse.
20 roses: The red starts to get excessive around 20, and supposedly that means "Believe me, I am sincere toward you." Usually, sincerity does not need to be proved with quantity, but that's just me!
