Buzz In: What Are Your Favorite Band Names of All Time?

See those fine young chaps to your right? They're the members of Does It Offend You, Yeah? - the British rock band that possesses my current favorite band name. It's a tough award to win, especially with so many other good contenders out there right now (including Someone Still Loves You, Boris Yeltsin, which comes in a close second).

Band names can convey so much, from a sense of what the music might sound like (the Weepies or the Ditty Bops) to an appreciation of music history (Pretty Girls Make Graves, named after a Smiths song) to a strange and baffling inside joke or reference (Architecture in Helsinki, Better than Ezra). Of course, then there are band names that are just purely ridiculous - Hootie and the Blowfish comes to mind - but in general, I like it when bands take a risk with names that are almost guaranteed to stick in my head.

So, I'm wondering: What band names are your all-time faves? And do you like them most for their quirky references, sense of history, or pure chuckle-worthiness?

Is It Hilarious or Sad?

We’re happy to see the sellers get revenge (or at least revenue) after their heartbreak. But so many of the confessions in the Tell It section (in which users spill but don’t sell) are stories of men doing horrible things and women in horrible situations. The headline “NICE BOOTS BAD GUY” made us laugh . . . but the person who got dumped while her mother was dying broke our hearts.

Is It Cost-Effective or Cursed?

From a consumer's view, it’s a great deal! Over $1,000 off a Tiffany wedding band? It sounds too good to be true. And maybe it is. If you believe in karma, acquiring trinkets from failed relationships just might doom you to the same fate. Then again, wedding dresses for 40 percent off!

Michelle Williams Continues Her Busy Week of Marilyn Moments

Michelle Williams attended another screening of My Week With Marilyn in LA last night. The actress dressed up in a gorgeous girl. by Band of Outsiders dress to participate in a Film Independent Screening Series of her Marilyn Monroe biopic at the Bing Theatre inside LACMA. It's been a busy week for Michelle, who stopped by The Tonight Show to talk about her film just a few days ago. This evening is booked as well, since she's due to attend a party for the jewelry brand Forevermark.

On Saturday night, Michelle Williams debuted her reddish hair on the red carpet at the Palm Springs Film Festival gala. She picked up the Desert Palm Achievement Award, and dedicated the win to Marilyn Monroe herself. From the stage, Michelle joked about good and bad advice she's received in her career. Michelle avoided the suggestion she change her name, otherwise she could have been known as Michelle Montana.

The film follows Beane as he uses unorthodox methods in an attempt to put together a winning 2002 team on a small budget. The film is a delight, thanks to an all-star cast and a smart script by Aaron Sorkin. Pitt turns in a charismatic performance, and Jonah Hill really shines as the straight-laced whiz kid who inspires Beane to look at baseball stats in a new light. DVD extras include bloopers, deleted scenes, and featurettes (including commentary from the real Billy Beane and some MLB players).

Anna Faris leads this romantic comedy as a woman who decides to track down her former lovers when a magazine article suggests she's had too many sexual partners to ever settle down. Chris Evans plays her charming, womanizing neighbor who helps her with her quest. Announcing the 2012 Grammy Award Nominations

For the second year in a row, the Recording Academy has given a hip-hop artist the most Grammy nominations. Last year, it was rapper Eminem with eight, and this year, Kanye West leads the nominees with seven chances at the golden gramophone, including a song of the year nod for "All of the Lights." West is also nominated twice in the rap album of the year category for his collaboration with Jay-Z on Watch the Throne and his own album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Brit crooner Adele wasn't far behind Kanye, picking up six nominations for her album 21, as well as a shot at song of the year with "Rolling in the Deep."

Bruno Mars also did well, racking up six nominations (that's down one from last year for those keeping track), while newcomers like Nicki Minaj and dubstep artist Skrillex are up for the best new artist category. There's nothing better than seeing live music with a group of friends, but like any night out, the whole experience can get pretty pricey. Looking to save some money so you can see as much music as possible? Check out these four tried-and-true tips for smart concert-going.

Buy tickets early. If there's a show you're dying to see, don't put off buying tickets. Look for presale opportunities by following your favorite bands via Facebook and Twitter and checking out sites like Jambase and SonicLiving.
Don't wait on a friend. Some people wait to buy tickets if they're not sure they'll have a concert buddy. My advice? If you can handle the cost, buy two tickets early. The worst thing that will happen is that you'll sell your extra. Who knows? If tickets are high in demand, maybe you'll even make a few extra bucks!
Stay away from brokers and scalpers. Unless it's your last resort, do your best to stay away from ticket broker websites. Even the big-name sites have loads of hidden fees and are notorious for astronomically jacking up ticket prices. Find out if you can buy from the venue's website directly, or avoid even more fees by taking the old-fashioned route and buying straight at the box office.
Skip the booze and the merch. I know that $8 beer looks so refreshing, and you love the colors on that t-shirt, but don't get caught up in the hype of the night. If you're serious about saving money, cutting out these extra expenses is an easy way to make sure you don't go over budget.
