Okay, I DO like that he's reaching out to the people, but what a freakin' waste of time! Good Lord Man, solve our financial crisis, don't fiddle around with Video conferencing!
1Technology CAN make a leader accountable, depending how the leader chooses to use it. Obama's all over the place, taking questions, talking to people - China's tracking people, shutting things down.
2I'm with clarabelle on this one. Right now I'd much see him working on things than spending x number of hours a week explaining it to us. Just pop in once every two-three months and give a status update... send an email or something. We don't need a press conference for every little thing.
3Wow, talk about cherry-picking the questions you want to answer.
This is even more ridiculous that an interview with Matthews or Olberman.
How about spending some time reading a book about economics, instead?
4I'm happy about this. He's being responsible answering to the people and not taking up our air time on TV when there are shows on I'd much rather be watching.
5I think as people watch these live news conferences and react to them, the press has an opportunity to step up its game.
6If he buried himself in his office, people would complain that he wasn't being transparent enough. He is trying to live up to his promise for more transparency by reaching to people and talking through the various plans that have been proposed. I'm okay with it.
7He's not being transparent, he's just holding more staged question and answer sessions. If he was really being transparent, we would've been able to read the spending bill that got rammed through congress a couple weeks ago, and not been told we will be voting on this in 48 hours, here's the 1100 pages.
8Reporters don't have to stick to the script - they've gone off before.
9He's everywhere. As long as he sticks the net and stays off my tv, I'm ok with it.
10He's running for 2012 right now. Never stopped campaigning.
