Many moons ago, I posted a poll on the best slang words for vagina. By many moons ago, I'm talking almost two years ago. It still shows up in traffic reports, which means that ~~people~~ dudes must be checking it out still. Why am I telling you all this? Because this hilarious Yahoo Questions post includes one of the slang terms I refused to put on the list. I'll let someone else gross you out with the nastiest term for lady-bits yet! Between the naiveté of the question (she actually thinks this is an interior design term!) and the attempt by the answerer to be polite, I am, as they say, LOLing.

Craigslist Casual Encounters: A New(ish) Sexual Frontier

I wonder how many people Craigslist founder Craig Newmark has helped to find an apartment, sell a guitar . . . or hook up.

Besides its helpful housing, for sale, and job sections, Craigslist has a personals section that caters to every predilection, ranging from the strictly platonic to relationship seekers to Casual Encounters - its anonymous sex hookup section.

Sometimes dangerous and often disappointing, Casual Encounters is nevertheless part of what gives the Craigslist personals section higher traffic than other online personals sites - including Match.com, eHarmony, and Yahoo personals.

"Our users like the ability to be both candid and, initially, anonymous," says Newmark matter of factly about Casual Encounters, which accounts for 2 percent of all Craigslist postings.

In a recent New York Times trend piece, 100 or so users were interviewed about their experiences and provided a peek into who posts and answers those ads: Craigslist Casual Encounters attracts a gamut, from "desperados" to prostitutes and spammers and thrill-seeking hotties. Nola, a 42-year-old saleswoman in Manhattan, seeks men who will meet her in a public place, so she can go to the bathroom, take her underwear off, and hand it to them in an envelope - for a fee. Melvin, a 35-year-old divorcé, recently made the mistake of going to a woman's apartment before meeting her in public, finding that she was insecure about her weight and trying to hide it by turning out the lights.

And then there's someone like Michael, a handsome artist who claims, "I've met some extraordinarily beautiful women, had a few extraordinary sexual encounters that made my teeth itch and my brain sweat, put me in states of weird contemplation like, 'My God, I’ve never experienced that before.'"

Casual Encounters has been around since 2000 and has probably changed the way a lot of sexually frustrated people deal with dry spells. The question is - does it work? And is it healthy for the parties involved?

Should Politicians' Personal Email Accounts Be Off-Limits?

Sarah Palin's Great Yahoo Purge of '08 has left a few dangling questions, and not just the identity of the "Anonymous" who cracked her inbox. Now that we've seen the screenshots, it appears as though Palin might have been using her personal account for crossover business-type communication. But most people have more than one email account, right? And sometimes depending on what's handiest or easily web-accessible, you might switch back and forth. Do the rules on personal email accounts change if you're a public official?

Though the emails weren't found to contain anything too damaging (or interesting really) critics are now locking sites on the fact that she was using a Yahoo account to begin with, saying that the move is somewhat Rovian (as in Karl) in nature. In 2007 the White House admitted that Rove and some of the higher ups used RNC email addresses for their correspondence, and because of this, some emails were hard to find when needed for various inquiries. Apparently right after Palin took office, her aides discussed the benefit of private email accounts, noting that messages sent to Palin's Blackberry "would be confidential and not subject to subpoena." With the confidential nature of the missives coupled with the notoriously hackable platform, should public officials shun private email altogether - or do they have a right to offers from Nigerian businessmen offering them great financial gains in private, too?

President Bush Gave Up Golf Out of Respect to Soldiers

Yesterday, President Bush sat down with Politico and Yahoo! to discuss his golf game, emailing habits, and the Iraq War. Here are some of the highlights from the interviewee-in-chief:

What if a Democrat is elected? Bush's "doomsday scenario of course is that extremists throughout the Middle East would be emboldened, which would eventually lead to another attack on the United States."
On sacrifices he's making for the Iraq war? Bush gave up golf. "I didn't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf. I feel I owe it to the families to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal."

On Iraq Intelligence? "Do I think somebody lied to me? No, I don't. I think it was just, you know, they analyzed the situation and came up with the wrong conclusion."
Does he think that a nasty presidential campaign could turn to race? "My own judgment is, is that race will only enter in if it's provoked by the press."
And what about email and the google? Giving it up to avoid leaks, Bush said he looks forward to "e-mailing to my buddies. I can remember as governor I stayed in touch with all kinds of people around the country, firing off e-mails at all times of the day to stay in touch with my pals."

I somehow look forward to seeing what "W" gets up to once he's out of the White House. Will he still make the news cycle? Do you think his popularity will rise, or stay desperately low as he fades into the Texas sunset?
