Five hundred people and $20,000 worth of neighborhood property damage later, O'Connell finds himself in deep shite for, like you know, just giving everyone a good time. Hmm . . . I'm having a déjà dumbass moment.

To support the Hollywood writers, all the piano-playing felines, skateboarding canines, hand-holding otters, and dramatic chipmunks across the net have quit their antics and gone on strike, too. They won't showcase their skillz, and even worse, they've cut the drama. All joy is on hold. The Internet petting zoo is officially closed, and a virtual disaster is upon us. But hang in there-I'm sure a help group is in the making.

The Writers Guild of America voted 92 percent in favor of ending its strike and accepting new terms regarding compensation for work on the internet. Patric Verrone, president of the WGA's West chapter, said, "the strike is over. Our membership has voted, and writers can go back to work."
The Aboriginal people of Australia received their formal apology from Australia's parliament this morning. As we've been following the development of this story, here is the full text of the apology. It included Prime Minister Kevin Rudd saying, "To the mothers and the fathers, the brothers and the sisters, for the breaking up of families and communities, we say sorry. And for the indignity and degradation thus inflicted on a proud people and a proud culture, we say sorry.” By many accounts, the apology was well received, though some think that it should have been accompanied with compensation for their suffering.
Film director Steven Spielberg has resigned from his role as artistic adviser for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, criticizing the atrocities in Darfur and China's reluctance to help. Spielberg said, "at this point, my time and energy must be spent not on Olympic ceremonies, but on doing all I can to help bring an end to the unspeakable crimes against humanity that continue to be committed in Darfur." Sudan sells two-thirds of its oil to Beijing, and Beijing sells weapons to the Sudanese government and has defended Khartoum in the UN Security Council.

The writers' strike is depriving us of scripted drama. Even so, New York Times columnist David Carr says the breakout television hit this season is the presidential election.

Carr wrote:

"January was supposed to be the month when the writers’ strike took its toll [...]. Instead, the primary season is serving as the backdrop for one of the most compelling runs of event television in years, creating the kind of chatter network marketers would kill for and spectacular ratings for cable news."

DEAR EEEEEeeeee--

I’m a writer. Every waking moment I am consumed with dreaming about my novel coming out. I am obsessed with what I’ll say to Matt during my appearance on THE TODAY SHOW and what I’ll wear when you interview me for ELLE.

I know. You want to stop reading. But, trust me: I am a GREAT F***ING WRITER!! Beside the novel, I’m also working on a screenplay. But it’s the novel that will launch me into fame-anista land. It is my destiny. So why do I procrastinate? Why can’t I finish it?

My astrologer said I’m loafing because I’m afraid of success. Is that true? How can it be true when I’m so obsessed with thinking about my book tour?

My boyfriend is nervous because he also believes I’ll be famous. We’ve discussed his fear about me leaving him when I get the movie deal. (The script and novel are THAT good.) We’ve been together since college and I don’t want to hurt him.

Meanwhile I am working in retail. Am I not finishing my novel because I’m afraid of hurting him? Or am I afraid of success?-----The Next Big Thing

Dr. McDreamy, aka Patrick Dempsey has been absent from the small screen due to the recent writers' strike but not only is he back on Grey's, he's back on the big screen as well in last weekend's Made of Honor. This romantic comedy mirrors that of My Best Friend's Wedding, with a few different twists and turns of course, but come on ladies, who could just be friends with Patrick Dempsey?! Clearly I'm a big fan, and although he's happily married with three kids, tell me, would you do, dump or marry Patrick Dempsey?
