There's no question that Roman Polanski is one of the greatest living directors. It's also clear that he's had tragedy in his life: he survived the Holocaust as a child in Poland and grieved the murder of his pregnant wife Sharon Tate by Charles Manson followers in 1969.
But no matter how mishandled his legal case was in the '70s after he plead guilty to having unlawful sexual relations with a 13-year-old after giving her champagne and part of a quaalude — he has evaded punishment and lived a life of luxury as a celebrated artist in Europe for over 30 years.

I saw Woody Allen's latest film this weekend — Whatever Works, meaning do whatever it takes to make you happy, or "filch whatever happiness you can" as Larry David's nihilist character says. For him that means marrying a much, much, so much, younger woman, played by Evan Rachel Wood. Wood is 21.

Woody Allen once joked that being bisexual doubled your chances of getting a date on Saturday night.
Part of the problem bisexuals have is that lots of people (even in the queer community) don't take bisexuality all that seriously. It's a phase, some say; just choose already, command others.

I kind of have a crush on Leo Allen (any relation to Woody?). I saw him live recently when he opened for the awesome Janeane Garofalo, and although his act started off slow and awkward, it got quirkier and better and funnier. Here, he's talking about how drinking is dangerous because it makes you think you're good at stuff it's dangerous to think you're good at.

The heart wants what it wants, as Woody Allen once said. (Pause.) So why can't this cat put a bag on his head and walk around like the cat version of the Unknown Comic? No reason at all.
