Knitted Trekkie Meerkats. Have three cuter words ever been spoken in the history of the world? (OK, maybe they have, but this comes close.) For a meer few dollars, some knitting wizard will make one just for you. "All Meerkat Trekkies," we are told, "wear Federation emblems proudly on their chests and have their ranking stripes on their sleeves." Maybe there's a nerd in your life who needs one of these?

Olympian Milli Vanilli? Cuter Girl Lip-Dubs For Real Singer

The angelic-faced cherub singing with a voice from heaven during the opening ceremony of the Olympics really only had one piece of that puzzle: Lin Miaoke, the 9-year-old who was featured performing "Ode to the Motherland" while fireworks flared and 1 billion people watched was pulling one of the oldest tricks in the book. She was lip-synching the song.

And not just to ensure a flawless performance in case nerves or the wires interfered with her singing - she lip-dubbed because she was cuter than the girl who owned the voice. Under pressure from the highest levels of the Communist Party, the ceremony's production team was sent on the ultimate star search: to find the perfect face and voice to represent China. Unable to find the whole package, they pulled a C+C Music Factory swapperoo: Lin Miaoke performed to 7-year-old Yang Peiyi's voice (pictured below). To see why this happened, read more.

The reason given was "national interest," though it's unclear if Miaoke even knew it wasn't her voice played. The general music designer of the ceremony said when he revealed the illusion, “the child on camera should be flawless in image, internal feeling and expression.” Miaoke is already being called the "smiling angel," while real singer Peiyi says that she was happy just to have her voice featured.

This is the second report of fakery coming out of the ceremony (the recorded fireworks being first). My heart just breaks thinking about that perfectly cute 7-year-old and how it's going to affect her knowing that she wasn't "cute" enough for the Olympics. Is this a sad scandal or one to chalk up to showmanship?

Celebrity Baby Matchmaker!

There are so many adorable celebrity babies running around Hollywood right now that I'm having a hard time keeping track! All these kids are blessed with great genes so it's not surprising that they keep getting cuter and cuter by the second. I can only imagine what's going to happen when they grow up and start hanging out with each other, or more importantly, start dating each other! Only time will tell if there will be any love connections, but in the meantime, let's play celebrity baby matchmaker! If you had it your way, who would you want to fix up?

Paul Rudd Busts a Few Moves

If you've never heard of the film I Could Never Be Your Woman, you're in good company. I don't know if it's worth watching in full, but I sure enjoyed this clip of Paul Rudd showing off for his date, Michelle Pfeiffer. He moves through virtually every corny dance that ever existed, from the two-step to some weird Broadway shuffle. I love a man who can dance, but I really love a man who doesn't mind making a fool out of himself. (Next to Mark Ruffalo, is there any cuter guy in Hollywood?)

Who knew that little dwarf hamsters (!) liked fettuccine noodles, much less hung onto them for dear life? I have a theory: I think that the tinier an animal is, the cuter he becomes when he expresses his will or desire for something. This is the Teaches of Giggle, which is much less naughty than the Teaches of Peaches.

Flashback: A Young George Clooney on "Roseanne"

I knew George Clooney had a cameo on "The Facts of Life." I didn't know he played Roseanne and her sister Jackie's boss on "Roseanne." I am one of the few straight-ish women who doesn't get weak at the knees for George Clooney. He's just a little too smarmy or something for my tastes. But for all of you out there who find him irresistible, here's a clip of a much younger and skinnier George. Cuter then, or now?
