Oh, Chelsea. For a lady who claims to drink so much, you sure look so fresh and so clean. This book isn't out yet, and I was only so-so about her last one (My Horizontal Life), but anyone who messes with a Judy Blume title this cleverly deserves a chance. I wonder if she says, "I must, I must, I must increase my. . .tolerance"?

OMFG! Blow, Booze, and Threesomes on Gossip Girl

You know what the Parents Television Council doesn't like? Threesomes. Implicit or explicit, it says there's no place for a ménage à trois on network TV. Fair enough! The council has asked The CW to reconsider airing Monday's Gossip Girl episode, which will feature a threesome.

After an US Weekly interview about the sartorial splendor of Gossip Girl, Costume Designer Eric Daman took a jab at the controversy while talking to New York magazine's Daily Intel. He made a very valid point, saying:

"So, it’s okay for them to be doing blow and drinking Scotch when they’re 18, but it’s not okay for them to be having a threesome?"

I can't really argue with that! About a quarter of TrèsSugar readers have had a threesome, which sounds about right to me. In my experience, teen drinking is more about taking your vodka messy in Gatorade bottles rather than neat in martini glasses - forget thinking about threesomes! So while the Parents Television Council can take their argument to the network that brought us OMFG, I'd have to say GFL! What say you?

TrèsSugar: Hi, Chelsea! I busted a gut reading My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands and I think Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea might be one of the most brilliant titles for a book ever. I love how you seem like the rare woman - gorgeous, and not trading on that but rather on your wit and subverting “proper” female behavior. Thanks for answering our questions!
Chelsea Handler: Well, thank you very much.

TS (I realize I kinda ambushed her here!): Are you a feminist?
CH: I feel like focusing on the idea of feminism is saying that we haven't achieved it yet. I believe in behaving at a level and having people meet you at a level that says: I'm a very highly functioning woman.

TS: Christopher Hitchens infamously said that only women who are fat, unattractive, Jewish or lesbian can be funny. How would you respond to him if you could?
CH: Well, I am half-Jewish, so he must have been right.

TS: Do you think humor for women is a defense mechanism, a survival skill? In your case, why did you think you became so funny?
CH: I think people are born the way they are born, and circumstances either add or take away from who you are deep down. I love to laugh, and in turn, love when I can make other people laugh.

TS: What in your past laid the groundwork for the way you see the world?
CH: Probably my father's 10 used cars that were in our driveway my entire life. I would say it was the opposite of rose-colored glasses.

TS: Who are your comic influences and heroes?
CH: I never intended on being a comedian, so it would be dishonest to say that I was
really influenced by anyone other than the idea of expressing my opinions. My brothers, sisters, and parents were definitely the biggest influences in my life.

TS: What’s a typical Chelsea Friday night?
CH: Dinner with friends usually at my house and a plethora of cocktails before, during, and after.

TS: Describe your ideal man. Do you think you’ll ever find him?
CH: Someone who gets the joke. Probably not.

TS: What was the weirdest wedding you ever went to?
CH: The one where the bride was smoking a cigarette in her wedding gown. That was pretty magnificent.

TS: What’s your biggest deal breaker in relationships?
CH:I usually don't break up with guys, I wait for them to break up with me.

TS: What’s your biggest piece of advice to today’s woman?

CH: Be ambitious for not only yourself, but also for the people around you, be generous, and be forthright. Karma is real, and it will reward you if you are doing the same for others.

Gary Busey: Drug Counselor on Celebrity Rehab

Celebrity Rehab, like A&E's Intervention, is as addictive as any drug out there. I've joked many times that someone's going to have to stage an intervention on my drug-themed reality television viewing habits. If I were a real drug addict, though, I'd pause before I entered a facility that used Gary Busey as an inspirational drug counselor. And yet the madman philosopher with the jacked up face and mesmerizingly solid teeth was chosen by silver-haired fox Dr. Drew for this season's Celebrity Rehab. (Tawny Kitaen didn't seem so amused when his creepy gaze ranged all over her body as he tried to give her "inspiration.") Here is Chelsea Handler, author of Are You There Vodka? Are We All Just Too Easily Offended?

I don't know if it's just me, but every news story I read today is another tale of people getting bent out of shape. Have we built a culture of super sensitivity, or are there just so many things to object to nowadays? To the evidence!

Barack Obama's campaign has just persuaded a delegate to step down after she was ticketed for describing her neighbor's children's behavior using the word, "monkeys." The kids were playing in the tree next door to her house. According to police, the woman "came outside and told the children to quit playing in the tree like monkeys." The woman says she didn't want the children to get hurt, and she even calls her own grandchildren "monkeys." Why the ticket and her banishment as a delegate? The children were African American. Obama's campaign called her use of the word monkey "divisive and unacceptable."

There's more offensive evidence if you'll just read more.

After Absolut Vodka's "In An Absolut World" ad showing Mexico taking over part of the US, people are now calling for a boycott of the liquor. According to the movement's website, they're fired up because "the ad's message to the Mexican audience is "In an Absolut (ie [sic] Perfect) world, 1/3 of the US is returned to Mexican control." Just wait until they get a look at Absolut's brand new ad targeting the gay and lesbian drinking population.
At a Texas middle school, a student fulfilling an assignment for history class, "to make a protest sign for or against an issue," chose illegal immigration. The sign she made following the assignment's directions read, "If you love our nation, stop illegal immigration." News of the sign got passed around lunch and angered a group of Latino students - who assaulted her. When she went for help, she was ordered back to class and told she could not call her parents. Her father is calling the incident, "a racially motivated crime."

Are we caught in an ever accelerating loop competing to see just who's more offended? Of who can "reject and denounce" the quickest and loudest? I know I've hit you with three stories that might strike you differently - I'd love to know if you think some are valid points of contention, and some are examples of how we're all just too darn touchy.

Let me know - I promise I won't be offended.

GiggleSugar Reader Spotlight: Gruaig Rua

Miss Sassy Gruaig Rua has clearly not changed much since she was a fiery little tot. Our friend from Ireland tells us what she likes about GiggleSugar and throws in a joke at the end to boot! Yay, Gruaig Rua!

GS: What’s your motto?
GR: “When life gives you lemons, just add vodka.” It’s so true! Seriously though, my favourite motto is “Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die today” - James Dean. I’m managing the first part, just struggling with the second part. But I’m working on it!

GS: Where are you from?
GR: Ireland, The Emerald Isle, The Land of Leprechauns and Guinness, Top o’ the Morning. I’ll stop now

GS: What do you do?
GR: I work for the government. I’m tempted to leave it at that so everyone will imagine that I am this glamorous undercover agent, but no. I work for the local government county council offices. You know, I’m too lazy to explain it so I’ve copied the mission statement from our website! “Cork County Council is a local authority established by statute whose corporate purpose is to enhance the physical, social, cultural and economic environment of the county in a sustainable and socially inclusive manner, so as to improve the quality of life of its citizens.”

GS: How would you describe your sense of humor?
GR: Childish and sarcastic. Could I BE anymore like Chandler Bing?

GS: What’s your favorite GiggleSugar post?
GR: Anything to do with dogs! Seriously. I’m a canine-aholic! I also love the Family Guy posts. And I really miss Pearl – she’s a legend!

GS: Who’s the cutest funny man and funny woman?
GR: The love of my life will always be Mr. George Clooney. Ok, so he’s not technically a “comedian,” but he’s a funny guy! As for a good looking female comedian, I’m stumped. That’s terrible isn’t it?! Oooooh, I’m going to say Tyra Banks, although I don’t think she’s intentionally funny on ANTM, but I sure do laugh my ass off!

GS: Who are your favorite male and female comedians?
GR: I just love Kath & Kim. I ordered the Series 4 DVD online and when I got home from work today, it was here!! I’m not ashamed to say I did a little dance around my bedroom I also love Catherine Tate, the woman is a genius. As for the male of the species, I’m going to go with a duet – David Williams and Matt Lucas of Little Britain. Genius.

GS: What’s your favorite comedy of all time?
GR: Just one? Too hard! My favourite depends on my mood. I love Priscilla Queen of the Desert, The Princess Bride, Little Miss Sunshine, Old School and…….my guilty pleasure….White Chicks. I know, I know! The funniest movie I’ve seen recently is Superbad. Ahhhh, McLovin.

GS: If your life were a comedy, what would it be?
GR: It would be Ugly Betty. Seriously. My office seems to have gradually transformed into “Mode.” Each day there are prettier and more stylish girls walking the halls. And the two colleagues I go to lunch with look like freakin' supermodels – I’m like an oompa-loompa walking between them!

GS: Do you look like someone famous?
GR: Well, I tried a lookalike website earlier this year and it said that I looked like Audrey Tautou. Hah, I wish I did! Also listed were Shannen Doherty and Sophia Bush. But the one I most looked like was Thora Birch. It’s only in a couple of specific pictures, but it’s uncanny!

GR free-for-all: I’m 28, but feel like I’m still 19. I’m living at home
with my parents (god love 'em!) because I’m desperately trying to save for my upcoming world travels. Yes, indeedy, if everything goes according to plan next year, I should to be heading to Australia for 12 months. Fingers, toes, and eyes crossed people! I’m also completely and totally obsessed with dogs. Amazingly though, I just have the one – my golden retriever Holly. I just adore her!! She’s a bit of a nutter, like her mama! If and when I get my own place, I hope to adopt lots more fuzzy friends. I’ve had several people tell me that they can see me in five years, living in a foreign land, driving one of those small convertible jeeps, with about 15 dogs hanging out on the back seat. They forget to mention that Mr. Clooney will be in the passenger seat……And finally I’m going to share my favourite joke: Two nuns are driving down a road late at night when a vampire jumps onto the bonnet. The nun who is driving says to the other, "Quick! Show him your cross." So the other nun leans out of the window and shouts, "Get off our f*cking car."
