The masters of satire over at The Onion have this faux news story about a YouTube challenge to its users: Make a video worth watching. The requirement? That it be somewhat watchable, provide a shred of enjoyment for someone other than the people who made the video, that the person who shoots the video have a reason for doing so other than, "I own a camera," and that the person shoots it while sober.

Weezer just released a new music vid for the song "Pork and Beans," and it's, like such as, almost as amazing as Tay Zonday's "Chocolate Rain" — which is saying a lot. Just about every viral video star out there has a cameo in this vid, so you know it's dramatic, obsessive-compulsive, knock-out-fall-down hilarious, and best of all, a real Crock. Without further ado — a pleasant stroll down viral video lane, shall we?

The boys produce a viral vid and want to cash in on their success, so they report to a governmental office (which doesn't exist in the real world) to collect their pay. Of course, every Internet superstah we've ever ridiculed and enjoyed is up in that joint, waiting to be compensated for the humiliation and exploitation that comes with virtual fame. Tay Zonday and his big chocolate ego won't shut up, Tron Guy won't sit down, The Dramatic Chipmunk really needs to chill, and can someone get that sneezing panda a friggin' tissue?

It's hard to stay on-message as a politician if the youth vote you want to appeal to has attention deficit disorder from years of watching viral videos on YouTube and GiggleSugar. What to do? Throw in some attention-grabbing references from viral videos of yore that will make your message "sticky" — as sticky as a couple women in bikinis wrestling while you talk about budget deficits and what you're going to do about them.

Sorry, Time magazine, but I think GiggleSugar's a little more qualified to weigh in on the top 10 viral videos of 2007. After all, to make that list, the video had to become wildly popular on the internet as a result of its absurdity, surreality, cuteness, and/or radical grossness (all GiggleSugar specialties). We never posted a couple of the videos you see below (even GiggleSugar has some limits!) but we're not afraid to call 'em out!

Andy Warhol would be proud. Some smarty-pants painter realized that today's equivalent of the Brillo Pad box or the Campbell's soup can is the Internet star. Remarkable for being utterly unremarkable, they are, nevertheless, the stars of today.
