Man, I love eccentric kids. And 10-year-old Gregory Evans of Illinois fits that description perfectly. The kid has been fascinated with vacuum cleaners since he was 3!

Gregory loves vacuum cleaners so much his idea of the perfect vacation is to go to the Hoover Museum, and he can tell what make, model, and year a vacuum cleaner is just by listening to it. (I also love that his parents indulge his eccentricity - his father seems totally delighted that his son has such a gender non-normative interest in this homely house-cleaning implement!)

This little dude better be careful when he grows up or he's gonna be snatched up by some lazy woman who never wants to clean. "Oh, hey Gregory," I can hear her say now, "the carpet really needs to be cleaned in the living room, and it's been so long since I've heard the hum of a 1939 Hoover Super Duster. Please be a dear and start one up!" He'd probably be out of that room before she could even finish her sentence.

I recently went to my friend's bachelorette party and got her the book Porn For Women as a gag gift. The PG porn book suggests that women get turned on by men doing things like vacuuming, folding clothes, or making dinner.

But according to a new study, seeing your spouse do household chores might actually be an aphrodisiac - and not just for women. The study revealed that the more housework a husband or wife does, the more likely they are to have sex with their spouses.

Many of the participating couples reasoned that showing an interest in household work - defined as cleaning, preparing meals, washing dishes, washing and ironing clothes, driving family members around, shopping, yard work, maintaining cars, and paying bills - demonstrates a greater willingness to invest in shared interests. It's a symbol of teamwork and commitment. One husband told researchers that sharing chores reflects a "willingness to hold my wife's needs and wants on par with my own." He sounds like a keeper.

What kind of vampire wanders about in daylight, sports no fangs, and politely declines glasses of lukewarm blood? The most popular one in the world! Edward Cullen, played by our favorite floppy-haired boy du jour Robert Pattinson.

For a genre born out of the dark side, it's become awfully lighthearted. So much that Slate article "Vampires Suck" warns we're setting boys and girls up for two very different first dates. While girls dream about Edward "let's-save-ourselves-for-marriage-even-though-I'm-90" Cullen, boys are online watching porn, expecting sex on the first date and a threesome by the third.

I say that might be going a touch far, since we're pretty sure teenage girls aren't living in Twilight-encrusted vacuums . . . well, we're mostly sure! But the concern does raise another pressing question: when did this blood-sucking villain go soft?

Hurricane Gustav Makes Landfall: The storm, varying in reports between a Category 2 and Category 3, made landfall in the area of Port Fourchon, Louisiana around 9 a.m. ET. Grand Isle, directly in the storm's path is covered in water. Between preparations and a smaller storm than expected, the fallout in terms of property damage is estimated to be a quarter of what was expected yesterday.

Japan's PM Resigns:
Japan's Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda has announced his surprise resignation at a news conference after serving less than a year. His government has been plagued by unpopularity. He said, "If we are to prioritize the people's livelihoods, there cannot be a political vacuum from political bargaining, or a lapse in policies. We need a new team to carry out policies."

Italy Agrees to Reparations:
Italy has agree to pay Libya $5 billion in reparations for its 32-year occupation of the country which ended in 1943. Silvio Berlusconi is set to sign the package which includes construction projects and pensions for Libyans who served with Italy in World War II. In return, Italy wants Libya to monitor illegal migrants turning up on Italy's shores.

New Obama/McCain Jib Jab Movie! Funny, Funnier, or Feh?

Though hog-tied comics are bemoaning the excruciating difficulty of making jokes about the oh, so serious and sensitivity-requiring state of the election (hey, it's not working construction, jokesters) Jib Jab thinks they've found a way around the "how do we tell a joke like Obama" dilemma.

Looking like the 2004 Bush and Kerry This Land Is Your Land vid, the 2008 installment is set to Bob Dylan's Times They Are a-Changin'. Did they solve the Obama humor-vacuum by making him ride a unicorn? I don't know about you, but that's how he appears in my dreams, anyway. I question whether the format, which felt so fresh in 2004, has weathered the last four years - it feels a little Dean-y to me. And! Come on people, yes, JSM (or JMac, take your pick) is old. Old, old, old as the hills. We get it. Can we please find something else funny about him?

That said, this new version could rule because you can put yourself in it through the magic of Photoshop. Ooh! Put yourself in it and show us! Fun project!
