Meet October's Top Talker

October was an exciting month on CitizenSugar - we watched Palin and Biden face off, then watched McCain and Obama go head-to-head in a town hall debate and finally, tuned in for the last debate before Election Day.

Meet September's Top Talker!

After watching Sarah Palin's fiery debate performance the other night, I realized it was time to tally up another month's worth of fantastic comments. Since September started with the Republican National Convention, I was in a "red" state of mind when I started counting, and I decided a nice glass of red would be the perfect accompaniment to my counting. As the numbers mounted I realized my glass of wine may have just predicted the Top Talker, whether or not she can currently enjoy one herself. . . .

Congratulations Great Sommelier! With a fantastic 937 comments in September, she's picked out her CitizenSugar prize. Rounding out the top five, is Michelin with 870 comments, newcomer to the top five dreamsugar with 708, former champion lilkimbo with 707 and tied with top five perennial favorite UnDave35 who also had 707. Meet August's Top Talker!

Phew! Between speeches this week, I was furiously counting up the fantastic comments from August. Mid-count, the super-duper Top Talker made a comment about the handmade signs at the RNC - and crazily I was able to capture this scene, just for him/her. . . a little craft project in the snack bar at the convention!

This man very fastidiously colored in the letters of his sign - and I saw him waving it on the floor some moments later. It was like a CitizenSugar thread come to life! All that counting though, made me hungry for a big, juicy apple. . . .

Congratulations torgleson! This month torgelson made 766 smashing comments and added a ton to the debate! Look Who's Top Talker!

As I sat counting up all of your sensational comments for the month of July, I found my mind wandering to campaign finance reform (hey, it's an occupational hazard . . .) and thinking, I know there's a maximum personal contribution to candidates, and then I thought "there's one profession that gets well paid enough to max out in every election - modeling." Then of course my mind wandered (counting is, after all, dull) to my favorite models. I think I picked this one: Gemma Ward. She's pretty and could definitely teach me a thing or two about financing a campaign. I bet.

Well, well! Our favorite resident campaign finance expert lilkimbo ran away with this month's Top Talker prize, racking up 844 excellent comments! The top 500 rounded out nicely with a bipartisan coalition of excellent contributions all month long: stephley came in second with 777 comments, always strong competitor, UnDave35 with 773, JudeC with 578 and torgelson with 449.

Meet June's Top Talker!

With my abacus in one hand fastidiously toting up June's comments, I got to thinking, "you know what this campaign needs? More puppets." So I got to digging around and I found out that lo and behold, the candidates could actually be even more entertaining if they actually were puppets running for student council president.

And then I thought, if there's one person that would appreciate Barack Obama schooling John McCain and Bush and Co. over juice boxes, it would be a proud parent and one of Barack Obama's biggest Team Blue fans. It's a trickier guess this month! To see who is June's Top Talker, read more.

While I was slavishly tallying up all the phenomenal comments for the month of May, I popped in my VHS of one of my all-time, favorite disaster movies. It passed the time while I was counting . . .

GiggleSugar Reader Spotlight: Suzanne

Suzanne is one of GiggleSugar's top talkers and a dynamo on wheels. (That picture below of her with comedian/talk show host Craig Ferguson occurred when she sneaked out of her daughter's bridal rehearsal dinner to attend a book signing so she could meet him. Ha!) She's a riot. Be sure to check out her image gallery at the end of the interview.

GS: What is your motto? Suzanne: “Don’t waste your stress!!! You might really need it someday” - which is my way of saying that some things might seem like they’re going to be a big problem, but in the end they may turn out to be nothing at all… so don’t stress until you actually know you have to!

GS: Where are you from? Suzanne: We Rhode Islanders must be a barrel of laughs, because, like Moni B, I’m from Rhode Island too… born and raised in Providence… Ha! How random is that!

GS: What do you do? Suzanne: My kids always said it was a trick question when they had to fill out forms and say what Mom did. I started out as a registered nurse, then got a job writing and photographing for a newspaper. After that, I was a relocation assistant. My job was to convince executives they’d like to live in Birmingham, AL. We loved it! That was one sweet job! Then I went back to nursing – rehab this time, then hemodialysis. I was not allowed to work when we lived in Paris. Woohoo! Now, I run a ladies’ accessory business that I started with three of my 4 children.

GS: How would you describe your sense of humor? Suzanne: Ridiculous, impulsive and out of control!

GS: What’s your favorite GiggleSugar post? Suzanne: Today’s… no really, I’m still laughing at the Nigerian Scam video. I get those emails every day. Who doesn’t!?! The letters are as dramatic as that video depicts. The letters themselves crack me up. They try to sound so real in their own broken English, terrible spelling, and atrocious grammar kinda way!

GS: Who’s the cutest funny man and woman? Suzanne: Heck, I don’t know!?! My grown kids--they always keep me laughing!

GS: Who are your favorite comedians? Suzanne: Now don’t laugh, but I really like Craig Ferguson. (GS: I have a major crush on him, Suzanne. We're going to have to fight for him!) Suzanne: I’ve liked his humor from the start. Well, maybe not when he was on Drew Carey, but on his late night show. I just find him funny! What can I say!? I like that he stood his ground to not bash Britney and I saw his kind heart the night he spent the entire monologue talking lovingly about his father who had just passed away. I also really like SNL’s Rachel Dratch. We saw her regularly when she was part of Chicago’s Second City’s main stage. We loved her humor then and still do now!
