Cecile Richards Defends Planned Parenthood's Mission

Planned Parenthood has faced recent attempts by politicians and pro-life groups to decrease its funding from various sources. But in addition to vocal supporters coming to its defense, Planned Parenthood has a well-spoken and passionate president, Cecile Richards. She went on The Daily Show last night to defend the organization's women's health and family planning mission, and outline the political opposition it faces. She explained, "We work with folks of all different political persuasions," as well as religious groups. Cecile continued, "If you really do believe we should do something in this country about unintended pregnancy and teen pregnancy, that's mainly our work, those are issues about which 90 percent of Americans agree, including folks from every religious persuasion." She pointed out that Planned Parenthood's mission is to reduce unintended pregnancy, which would also mean fewer abortions. Watch her make her case below.

Julianne Moore Talks Being Sarah Palin

If you've seen ads or the trailer for HBO's Game Change, you might have done a double take. Julianne Moore has transformed herself into a version of Sarah Palin that is even more believable than Tina Fey's. Last night on The Daily Show, Julianne, an outspoken Democrat, talked about whether she worried the film about the 2008 election would be seen as elite Hollywood liberals taking cheap shots for fun. Brad Pitt Talks Moneyball, Make It Right NOLA, and More With Jon Stewart

Brad Pitt signed autographs for fans last night outside the NYC studios of The Daily Show With Jon Stewart. It was the latest stop on a mini press tour that Brad and his Moneyball costar Jonah Hill have been doing for the last few days. They taped an Inside the Actor's Studio appearance and chatted about Oscar nominations with the Today show. Yesterday, Brad spoke with Jon Stewart about their picture and the honor of being nominated by the Academy. Brad joked about the statistics thrown around in the movie, saying, "I only play a guy who understands baseball."

Jon and Brad also talked about the actor's humanitarian activity in New Orleans. Brad spoke about his Make It Right NOLA and the work they're doing to build sustainable housing for low-income people. Brad Pitt's charity auction came up, and he revealed that proceeds from the sales will help his organization's efforts.

Marion Cotillard Jokes With Jon Stewart About Germs and Her Comedy Favorites

Marion Cotillard was in plaid last night to stop by The Daily Show's NYC studios. She's out talking up her new movie after attending Contagion's NYC premiere Wednesday. So far, the Contagion reviews are great, and the Steven Soderbergh picture could give three-weeks-running box office champ The Help some serious competition. As Marion arrived on stage to chat with Jon Stewart, she joked about the germaphobe nature of her movie by not shaking his hand and only offering air kisses. She went on to talk about how making the film made her paranoid about germs, especially because she was pregnant. The conversation took a lighter turn, though, when she revealed her love of comedies and said that Will Ferrell, "is my god!"

Jon Stewart Compares Obama to Social Conservatives When It Comes to Gay Marriage

Fledgling Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum has been using bizarre analogies to explain his opposition to gay marriage. At a recent campaign event Santorum said, "I can call this napkin a paper towel, but it is a napkin. Why? Because it is what it is. Right?" Jon Stewart did his best to explain Santorum's logic, saying he's making a slippery slope argument: "If people start using paper towels as napkins, what's next? Sleeves?! Drapes?!" But it's not just well-known anti-gay marriage politicians "defending" marriage. Jon points out that while the Obama administration calls the Defense of Marriage Act "indefensible," Obama's still enforcing it with sometimes cruel results. Watch the clip to see for yourself.

Minneapolis Replaces San Francisco as the "Gayest" City in America

SF, the home of leather and business establishments named after bad gay puns (The Sausage Factory Italian restaurant, for example), can't keep up with today's gays who enjoy baking banana bread, shopping at Bed Bath & Beyond, and other harmless activities. As one of the year's sexiest Academy Award nominees, James had a lot to celebrate, and he spoke to Jon Stewart about finding out about the nod on his way to class at Yale and his feelings about playing MC during the big show. Jon took his own turn on stage at the awards a few years back, and he shared a few words of wisdom with James. Franco and his cohost Anne Hathaway posed for a few glamour shots with Oscar and he added his sincere thanks to the list of celebrity nomination reactions.
