Nov 18 2009 - 4:00pm Sofía Vergara, the young, Latina wife on Modern Family, went on The View today. Things got off to an awkward enough start when Joy asked the Colombian actress, "So you really talk like that?" but then things got worse.
She was definitely joking. She is 37 and had her son when she was 19, not 13 (hence the "joke"?). I guess I don't really blame the ladies of The View for laughing because it was such a
strange moment, but where does this woman come from that would make her think joking about that is OK??
To her defense, that is the way we joke in that region [in Colombia] of the country. She was definitely joking, she had her son when she was 18-19. I've known her sense she started her career
and she has been a great mother. It was an inappropriate joke, but that's the way we joke in that part of Colombia. Is more of a cultural difference.
yes, i'm sure every has a hardy HAR HAR in your region of columbia when someone talks about getting raped and pregant because of it. it's national tv. you don't make a joke like that. that's

6At first I thought maybe she was serious - she thought that the girls seriously thought she had her son when she was 12 and was correcting them.
But then I got it and was like, "Whoa. That is NOT OK."
