As someone who likes to share with friends and family, I'm amazed by people's manners, or lack thereof. I feel that saying thank you, even when something seems expected, should be second nature, but the older I get, the more I realize that not everyone feels the same way. But is there anything you can do or say when your generosity isn't appreciated or acknowledged?

Dear Sugar,
My husband and I treated our son and daughter-in-law to a five day vacation in Las Vegas for our son's 30th birthday. They had a great time and look forward to going back. They brought back token gifts for their friends and co-workers but nothing back for my husband and I!

My boyfriend's family are fairly well-to-do, and they are taking me on vacation in mid-December. They have paid for my airline ticket, and we'll be staying at their house in another country. They often take us out for nice meals, and they're already talking about the meals they'll take us on there.
