We've all heard horror stories about text message breakups - the nerve! - but the ubiquity of cell phones has also led to a rise in textual harassment. Nowadays, when an unwelcome caller has a hold of your digits, they have the power to digitally stalk you via text message. You're not returning their calls? No worries. They'll just send over 10,000 messages to your number in a period of, say, 65 days. Essentially, that's one text message every eight minutes. Padded Lampposts Tested in London to Prevent Cell Phone Texting Injuries

When texting first hit the scene, it was a convenient, quick way to convey a message without killing costly cell phone minutes. But convenience gave way to annoyance with the rise of text message break-ups, textual harassment, and - OMG! - texting while driving. One would think that texting while walking would be the better way to move and message at once, but not so fast. Those damn lampposts keep getting in the way!
