The Movies That Make You Cry

As it turns out, we're all a bunch of saps when it comes to just about anything emotional in a movie. But among the movies you mentioned, a few seemed to really stand out. So check out my compilation of the six movies that make you pull out the tissue box, and cast your vote to decide which is the absolute most likely to make your eyes red rimmed and your nose run.

How Often Do Women Cry?

Women cry more than men - that's a known fact. We are more emotional and we don't hide our feelings. Whether we are touched by a TV show, feeling overjoyed at a wedding, overwhelmed with work, or on a PMS rollercoaster ride, we're bound to shed a few tears here and there. A man named Dr. William Frey actually conducted a study to figure out on average, how often women cry in 1 month. So I want to know...
Head Over Heels: The Literal Version

And I love this song. I bet back in the '80s they were all, "Let's make a video about a freaky library, it's gonna be awesome!" Little did they know the video would achieve never-before-seen levels of awesome 20 years later. Any guesses what '80s video will get literalized next?

Sunday Confessional: She's Jealous of Her Daughter

We're mixing things up this week and taking an anonymous confession from our new Confession Booth group for you all to weigh in on! This confessor finds herself wanting her daughter's suitor.

Am I a bad person? I really liked a guy I work with who is younger than me . . . a lot younger. I invited him over several times and we partied and we eventually became really close friends. I was really sad when I found out that he liked my daughter. I gave my permission for them to date and told them I was "OK" with it when secretly it's breaking my heart. I find myself resenting them. My daughter knew I liked him before she started dating him, so it was a very delicate situation when I found out about their feelings. This is tearing me apart.

What advice would you give her?

Make your anonymous confessions in our new Confession Booth group.

While shedding hot tears and searching YouTube, I was reunited once again with one of the best cat videos I've ever seen. (I don't say that lightly.) A woman and cat seem to have this amazing routine together: she brushes her teeth, and her cat jumps on her head. Pay careful attention to :45 and 1:21. Wow.
Don't Forget The Tears

Dear Sugar
My boyfriend of four years and I recently broke up, in fact I just moved out less than three weeks ago. I am still really sad about it since I ultimately thought that he was the one. Last night completely out of the blue, I ran into him at a restaurant, and he was there with another girl!

They were holding hands and kissing - ICK! I followed them home and once she figured out who I was, she took off. He and I talked for a while and it ended badly. He said he was trying to move on and that he cherished our time together, but I was just not the one for him. How can I get over him? I was still hoping for some kind of reconciliation. I feel crushed. Miserable Meryl

To see DEARSUGAR's answers read more

Dear Miserable Meryl
Please don't forget about all of the reasons why you guys broke up in the first place. Now is the time to focus on what you didn't like about him as a partner. Think about how she gets to inherit all of that stuff! We have this strange ability to focus in on only the good times, and we forget all of the tears.

That couldn't have been easy for you to see last night. But, maybe it's for the best. If you are holding out for someone that's moving on then you are just keeping the door open for more hurt ahead for you. Try to stay positive and surround yourself with loved ones who will support you. This too shall pass.

On the Verge of Tears Over Commercials?

For the past month of so, I've been constantly on the verge of tears for no apparent reason. It seems like anything that inspires even the slightest emotion in me makes my eyes well up. It doesn't even have to be something sad. This includes TV shows, books, conversations, even commercials that are funny.

At first I thought it was just PMS, but it's been going on for too long for that to explain it. I haven't gone through anything very upsetting recently, in fact if anything my life has been so drama free that it's intensely boring. I don't think I'm depressed, but does the fact that a funny beer commercial makes me start to cry suggest otherwise?

Addicted to A&E's Intervention? You're Not Alone

Exploitation. Voyeurism. Tears. There are all sorts of reasons to tune into A&E's Intervention. Maybe it's because it capitalizes on people at their lowest of lows that we cannot help but feel a twinge of guilt for tuning in again . . . and again. Its viewers are certainly a loyal bunch - some people (mostly them) would go as far as to say addicted.

Now Funny or Die has given the obsessive need to watch Intervention a name, a face, a parody. It's not the funniest thing I've seen, though I do love when his sister says, "It's the driving that worries me," as we see Saturday Night Live's Fred Armisen, the addicted, driving while watching. And it does star Elisabeth Moss, Fred's fiancee, better known as Peggy Olson on Mad Men!

You Asked: Is My Lack of Spirituality Going to Tear Us Apart?

Dear Sugar,

My boyfriend and I got sober together and have been dating, clean and off drugs, for over a year now. He uses a 12-step program to maintain his sobriety and is a highly spiritual person. I do not use a 12-step program, nor am I religious or spiritual. We are obviously very close, but every few months, I will confide in him about an issue or problem occurring in my life, and he will respond by saying that the only way he knows how to live is by doing the 12 steps. It's almost like he can't be of any assistance to me if I won't do it his way, and it always turns into an argument.

Most of the time we get along great and are the best of friends, but this issue of his spiritual program versus my lack of one comes up monthly, and it makes me think it's something that is always on his mind. How can I stay open with him and confide in him without worrying about being attacked? - Unsupported Sasha

To see DearSugar's answer, read more.

Dear Unsupported Sasha,

Let me first applaud you and your boyfriend for your year of sobriety - that's no small feat, so congratulations! Since you both took different approaches to getting sober, I can see how that could cause some confusion in your relationship, but at the end of the day, he needs to understand that what works for him might not work for you, and vice versa. What matters here is that your chosen methods work, so if you're feeling deep down that he resents you for taking an alternative approach, something's got to change.

Since life isn't perfect, you're both going to continue to experience bumps in the road, which is why it's so important that you feel safe and secure when opening up him. Since these conversations usually end in an argument, I suggest you broach the subject unattached to an issue or problem you're facing. Ask him if what you're feeling is true, and if he does have a problem with your lack of spirituality, and if that problem is a difference he can't accept, you two just might not be right for each other. I understand that you love and care for him, but it's important that you put your needs and your sobriety first. Hopefully laying it all out on the table will give you both some clarity, but when all is said and done, follow your instincts on this one. Good luck to you.
