Last night Stephen Colbert took on Sesame Street, the "most insidious socialist brainwashing program in our nation's history," on its 40th anniversary. When not condemning SS for indoctrinating children with a love of learning and showing adorable clips, he calls out Grover for allowing kids to think marriage is just between two people and the legalization of Bert-and-Ernie marriages.

Bad Relationship, Great Sex?

Is it possible to have great sex with someone you hate? That was the hot and heavy debate on last night's Parks and Recreation, when mustachioed Ron reunites with his ex-wife Tammy. The toxic couple can't talk without fighting - and the fighting inevitably leads to sex. Sex that Ron compares to "doing peyote and sneezing slowly for six hours."

Ron eventually learns that hooking up with a toxic ex can be a very bad idea: "It took years of intense, focused hatred to get over her, and now I've undone all that great work." Have you ever had amazing sex with someone you couldn't stand? Or hooked up with an ex only to discover it was a terrible idea?

Girl Crush Du Jour: Alexa Chung

Usually when someone is described as a "model turned" anything, I'm skeptical, so when I first heard about model-turned-TV-host Alexa Chung's new MTV show, It's On with Alexa Chung, I figured I'd steer clear. But after watching countless clips of the daily show, I'm smitten with this adorable British import.

It helps that even Chung doesn't relish her model past: "That sucked . . . you have to stand on a cross on the floor and no one talks to you, and I'm what you call a talker," she says in her MTV bio. Now the 25-year-old makes a living talking: she's not only cute and stylish (love this dress she wore to the VMAs) but she's also gifted with a very sassy, quick wit. She's a bourbon drinker. Perhaps someday we can get together over old fashioneds and talk about books.
Speaking of which, her favorite book is Revolutionary Road, which I also think is awesome.
She tweets about grammar!

Addicted to A&E's Intervention? You're Not Alone

Exploitation. Voyeurism. Tears. There are all sorts of reasons to tune into A&E's Intervention. Maybe it's because it capitalizes on people at their lowest of lows that we cannot help but feel a twinge of guilt for tuning in again . . . and again. Its viewers are certainly a loyal bunch - some people (mostly them) would go as far as to say addicted.

Now Funny or Die has given the obsessive need to watch Intervention a name, a face, a parody. It's not the funniest thing I've seen, though I do love when his sister says, "It's the driving that worries me," as we see Saturday Night Live's Fred Armisen, the addicted, driving while watching. And it does star Elisabeth Moss, Fred's fiancee, better known as Peggy Olson on Mad Men!

Don't Ask, Do Investigate: Stewart Blasts Army For Firing Gays

I always thought the Army's don't-ask-don't-tell policy was really a turn-your-head policy. But no! It's more: let's investigate any rumors of gayness infiltrating the ranks. Lt. Dan Choi - West Point grad and Arabic translator who's served in Iraq - is the target of such an investigation. Allah knows Arabic translators aren't valuable in the Army!

Is Bristol Palin a Good Role Model For Teens?

Now that Bristol Palin is a teenage mother, she's promoting abstinence as a "teen ambassador." Never mind that she told Fox News back in February that abstinence is "unrealistic." Today, on the National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, she appears on Good Morning America to express her ~~unwavering~~ somewhat wishy-washy belief in abstinence. When the interviewer asks if abstinence vs. protection is a black or white issue, Palin wanders into a gray area. Check it out.

Is Cell-Phone Snooping Ever OK?

Is going through someone's text messages OK if you suspect he's up to no good? That was the question on The Hills this week: Heidi goes through Spencer's text messages, finds a text from a bartender he'd been flirting with, and promptly deletes it. In therapy, all Spencer can talk about is how Heidi shouldn't have gone through his phone. I hate to agree with Spencer, but I'd be annoyed too.

Would you ever snoop in your significant other's cell phone if you suspected he or she was cheating? Or do you think snooping is a bad idea under any circumstance?

Word du Jour: Fauxcialite

It may look awkward typed out, but doesn't "fauxcialite" just roll off the tongue? At least it does when Chuck Bass utters it in last night's episode of Gossip Girl. As explained in the clip below, a fauxcialite is someone who fancies the finer things in life, attends the right parties, and seeks out moneyed mates but isn't actually rich - only pretending.

I'd love to start throwing this word around. Of course, it would help if I knew more fauxcialites, or socialites for that matter. How about you?

The Real Housewives of NYC: Dating Douchebags in Disguise

I run hot and cold on Bethenny Frankel, The Real Housewives of New York City's resident single gal. Often her one-liners are brilliant and her bits of wisdom spot-on. Like last night's observation about "trick guys" - the smart, nerdy guys who are still bitter about their lack of popularity in high school and are often douches in disguise. Here, Bethenny weighs whether to go on a date with a model.

I definitely think there's some truth to the "trick-guy" thing. But Bethenny lost me when she said that balancing a career and a serious relationship might be impossible (what!?) while having a career and a kid is totally doable. Seems a bit out of touch to me. What do you think? And have you encountered so-called trick guys?

The Hills: A Surprisingly Chaste Discussion of Chastity

Even if I didn't save myself for marriage, I have friends who did, often for religious reasons, and it was sweet to imagine them having a real "wedding night" on their wedding night. On last night's episode of The Hills, Heidi's Southern-Baptist high-school boyfriend, Colby, and his girlfriend come to visit; the couple doesn't drink and sleeps in separate hotel rooms. They're very open about the fact that they're waiting to do "it" until saying "I do."

If the other option is turning out like Spencer Pratt, maybe saving yourself for marriage isn't a bad idea. And as I recently learned, there doesn't necessarily have to be a separation of church and sex. How do you feel about the idea? Did you wait until marriage to do the deed? Did you have friends who did?
