After all, it's still hard out there for a lady stand-up comic, but there is cause to celebrate the hilarious ladies who break through the glass ceiling and thrive. And the winner of the GiggleSugar readers' choice for best female stand-up comedian is . . .

Chelsea Handler! The veteran stand-up savant hit the big time this Summer, with her own late-night show on on E! called Chelsea Lately. Giggle regular Kathy Griffin came in a close second, and my pick has to be Kathy Griffin.

Stand-up comedy is tough-take it from John Mayer. This past May, the soulful crooner mustered up enough nerve to get on stage at the Comedy Cellar in NYC and pull off his best impression of the dudes below. That is, he tried to be live, funny, and the only one standing. The reviews were mixed, but you got to give Johnny credit for attempting one of the most difficult jobs out there. Yesterday we asked you to name your favorite female stand-up comic. So, who is your favorite male stand-up comic of 2007?

I've been to stand-up comedy auditions-these folks are a brave tribe of people! Imagine getting up in front of an audience that half expects you to suck, and killing them with hilarity instead. Although some of the funniest people I've ever known were women, it's still hard out there for a lady stand-up comic. Many say there's an unspoken rule about "one woman comic a night" at comedy clubs, and when they're there they have to face the preconception some people in the audience have that women just aren't funny-or shouldn't be funny. (You know-too aggressive.) Sigh. That's no laughing matter, but there is cause to celebrate the hilarious ladies who break through the glass ceiling and thrive. Who was your favorite female stand-up comic of 2007?

Where Do You Stand? Using the Phrase "Knocked Up"

The other day, a married friend called me up and said, "I have good news! I'm knocked up." At first I didn't understand what she was talking about, but then she went into detail about her ultrasound, and I knew she was trying to tell me she was pregnant. The term "knocked up" doesn't really conjure up happy and blissful thoughts to me though. I don't think I'd ever say that I was "knocked up," or refer to someone as "knocked up" since it seems like such a harsh way to announce something so wonderful.

What if it was an unplanned pregnancy, would the term be okay then? In my book, no, it wouldn't, because I just really hate the phrase but what do you think? Do you think the words "knocked up" and "pregnant" are interchangeable, or do you think "knocked up" has negative connotations?

Hillary Talks Sexism, Obama's Job Offer, and Mad Men to Vogue

Hillary Clinton finally sat down for a long-overdue Vogue interview. She offended editor Anna Wintour during the primaries by turning down the fashion mag out fear of looking "too feminine." And though she won't be on the December cover, the article is as substantial and satisfying as a cover story.

From night swimming alone to her favorite shows (Mad Men!), we see a side of Madame Secretary that all the vetting in the world would not unearth. See some of what she had to say below.

On visiting countries as a high-ranking female: "You can go to some countries and there's not a woman in the room. They don't even make the effort to give me the token woman minister. . . . And in lots of African countries the honorific for women is 'Mama.' So I had lots of people say to me, 'Mama, what about this; Mama, what about that?'"

On President Obama's job offer: "I was stunned after the election when President Obama asked me to consider this. . . . I really was very unconvinced. I did not think it was the right thing to do. I didn't want to do it. I just really had a lot of doubts, and I kept suggesting other people: Well, how about this person! How about that person! This one would be really good! But then a friend of mine called me and basically said, 'How would you have felt if you'd been elected and you'd called him and asked him to do this?' And that really made a big impression on me. How do you say no? And so . . . I said yes. And here I am."

On Mad Men: "That's how it was! That's why the women's-liberation movement was so shocking. It was like news from outer space"
