What better way to say TGIF than to watch this heartwarming and epic video about a mom squirrel and her baby trying to jump a wall on the UCLA campus.

At first, it looks like no matter how many times the mom squirrel tries to show her baby how it's done, it will never happen because the baby is too little. (Everyone let out a collective, "Awwww!") Well, I'm not here to harsh your mellow, so of course it gets better. Some students find a creative way to lend the baby a hand. I guarantee that even those with the blackest, most cynical hearts will feel a beam of sunshine breaking up the clouds. (And the soundtrack isn't half bad, either.) TGIF!

I didn't realize people ate squirrel, much less wanted its flavor approximation on a potato chip. Shows how much I know! British crisps-maker Walker's just came out with its squirrel-flavored potato chips (Cajun flavored, to be exact, whatever that means). It's actually vegetarian, it just tastes like squirrel. But will it satisfy this lady?

Salacious UC Davis Squirrels Too Lusty For Their Own Good

Seven years ago, there were no nonnative squirrels on the UC Davis campus. But because the lusty little beasts have been getting' busy, there are now 400 of them running around sampling student lunches, eating baby birds, and snacking on electrical wires. That's why scientists at UC Davis are test-driving squirrel birth control. Students and faculty are catching the horny little rodents, injecting them with hormones, and releasing them back into the wild where they will "continue to do as squirrels do." Pshaw! I say try abstinence programs first before taking such drastic measures! (Click here if you're not persuaded by my suggestion.)

This cute little punkass squirrel will stop delaying the White Sox-Cleveland Indians game when he's good and ready. First, he's gotta cool his harbles on the dirt, then he's gotta walk up to players to let them know who's boss, practically yelling "psych!" when they get close to him, and finally, after his 15 minutes of squirrel fame are up, he leaves the building. OK, so he's chased out. Whatever.

Cute Alert: Chihuahua Adopts Baby Squirrels

A litter of baby squirrels were abandoned in nature, rescued by the awesome Derek, and brought to the home of a 10-year-old chihuahua named Mimi. The chihuahua immediately took the squirrels under her ~~wing~~ tongue to get them all cleaned up and ready to go. She now even nurses the little guys! Is Mimi nuts? Maybe. But c'mon, could you resist those long, creepy rodent tails? (Don't answer that.)

Interspecies Lovin'

Meet Finnegan the squirrel and Mademoiselle Giselle the Papillon dog who helped nurse him back to health. A known animal lover in her 'hood, human Debby Cantlon was asked to care for an abandoned newborn squirrel. (Have three words in the English language ever been filled with such pathos?) While she was caring for him, she realized her pregnant Papillon was intent on helping. After Mlle. Giselle had her puppies, she seemed to insist on including Finnegan in the puppy mosh pit (pics below). Although Finnegan will be released back into the wild (and probably is already there as this story's about a year old), I imagine it will be tough to leave such a loving adopted family. Go Finnegan!

Gray Squirrels: Over-cute and Over-sexed?

"Do you find me sexy, baby--do you?"

Scottish officials are worried that U.S. imported gray squirrels are outnumbering native (and endangered) red squirrels and they believe that there is only one humane solution: squirrel contraception. Newspapers have joked that gray squirrels, like American servicemen stationed in Britain in WWII, are "over-cute and over-sexed." The gray squirrel is so fertile in Scotland that there are about 3 million grays and only 160,000 red squirrels.

Squirrel contraception may seem extreme, but think of the alternative that the spokesman for South Scotland's Red Squirrel organization offered: "cranial dispatch," or "a quick and lethal blow to the head." Ouch!

Have inventors simply thrown up their hands and decided that all useful products have been invented, so why bother? That's the only thing that could explain how someone decided that there was a market for Squirrel Underpants. That's right, there's nothing in your eye, you read it correctly: Squirrel Underpants. "Each pair of tiny briefs has a three-inch waist," according to the website, "and is made of 100 percent cotton. The underpants squirrels prefer! Also good for hamsters, frogs and gerbils." Frogs? Really?

Cute Alert: Squirrel Squirrels Away His Nuts

I've been using the word squirrel as a verb lately, e.g. "I'm going to squirrel away some food in the fridge," etc. So imagine my delight when I stumbled upon this vid of a pet squirrel squirreling some walnuts away in a blue towel. I especially love the quizzical look he gives to his friend who offers him more walnuts. Ridiculous.
