MTV's Sweet Sixteen really knows how to pick 'em. The birthday girl in this episode (identified by the crown on her head, natch) is given a brand new Lexus for turning 15. There's just one problem: it's not the day, time, and exact second of her birthday and she's not in the mood to accept premature gifts right now. So she does what any respectable spoiled brat would do: stomps, screams, cries, cusses, and ultimately calls off the party. You understand.

Before she could even walk, Alicia was a pageant queen. Predictably, all them years of primping and crowning have gone to her head. Appearance is everything in Alicia's skin-deep world of swimsuits, head shots, and glossy gowns, but when she and her parents appeared on Wife Swap a few weeks ago, the family dynamic was far from pretty. Can we get this clan a clue? Oh, that's right- they'd much rather have world peace.

Million Dollar Sweet Sixteen Partay

What is the world coming to these days? This kid turns sixteen and his dad drops over a million bucks to throw the blingest bash in town: red carpet, Diddy, Kanye West, a new set of wheels, a personal chauffeur--the works. Wait until the end of the clip when the kid opens his mouth to say ~~thank you~~ how great he is. Sheesh!

DEARSUGAR and Grateful Gila need your help. She feels so lucky to be dating a great guy who has parents that treat her to anything and everything, but she's looking for a nice thank you gift that will express her gratitude. Do you have any ideas for her?

Dear Sugar
My boyfriend's family is incredible. They are the nicest people and have such a warm family environment. They also have tons of money, not in the flashy way, more in an understated and humble way.

They treat me like one of their own and they always insist on taking me on amazing vacations, wonderful dinners, weekends away and they pay for EVERYTHING! My parents raised me to believe that if someone pays you a favor, then you are supposed to pay them back ten-fold (not necessarily in a financial way, but more in an appreciative way.)

I feel horrible that I can't show them the level of generosity that they show me. I obviously can't compete with their finances, so I have been wracking my brain trying to think of something special and thoughtful to get them as a gesture of my gratitude. Just saying, "thank you" and giving them warm hugs is starting to make me feel a little bit lame already.

I've thought of giving them gift baskets filled with their favorite goodies, but when I hint to my boyfriend about an idea, he tells me they have more than enough of that kind of stuff (I'm sure they do they got 30+ gift baskets for the holidays from clients)! Does anyone have any ideas for affordable gifts that would show them how deeply I care? Grateful Gila

Of course, it's fun to dress your kids up in cute clothing, but do you think it teaches them a bad lesson? Spoiling your children is one thing, but spoiling them rotten is another. So to all you moms out there, do you think it's a good idea to introduce extravagance at such a young age or do you think it puts them at a disadvantage when they grow up?

You Asked: My Boyfriend Treats Me Like I'm His Mother!

Dear Sugar,

My boyfriend grew up with an irresponsible mom and a bratty sister. His mom never took care of him, never cooked a meal for him, didn't know his favorite food or shirt size, and never paid for anything. His sister is just the average bratty teenager. I grew up in a loving family, both parents love me so much and I love them back. I know when and how to take care of a person, how to cater to his/her needs, how to help friends or family, but my boyfriend hasn't a clue. We now live together, and ever since we passed the honeymoon period, things changed. He used to pay attention to detail and now I'm starting to feel like he's taking me for granted. Whenever he forgets to do something, he screams at me for "forgetting to remind" him. He yells at me if I don't buy his favorite things at the market and if I can't go out and do what he wants for the night because of too much work, he calls me boring (mind you this is all the same attitude that he gives to his mother.)

The truth is that I do my best because I love him - I learned how to make his favorite food and I pick out the best clothes for him, I make sure I do his laundry the way he likes it, and help him in every way I can. Sometimes I mess up, I'm only human, but I know I don't deserve this kind of treatment. My boyfriend in return almost never does anything appreciative or loving for me. The only time he does is when I've broken down, crying, and he tries to make it up to me, but his good behavior fades after a day or two. I love him and he tells me that he loves me too and he's trying to change for the better, but I haven't seen any results. Is this really who he truly is? How can I change his attitude? Does he really love me?

Dear I'm Not His Mother Mandy,

Having your boyfriend treat you like you're his mother is not a good foundation for a relationship. It sounds as though you enjoy being the caregiver to him, which I can completely understand, but when you're catering to his every need and not getting anything in return, something needs to change. The saying "spoiling him rotten" seems to describe your situation perfectly. You must set boundaries with your boyfriend ASAP. Just because you feel badly that he didn't have the most supportive mother growing up, you shouldn't feel the need to step in and be that person for him now. Relationships are about give and take, mutual respect, and most importantly love, so you guys have some work to do.

Have you ever talked with him about how you feel before things escalate into a full-blown argument? I suggest sitting down with him to have a heart to heart. Explain that you feel taken for granted and used, and tell him that although you enjoy taking care of him, he needs to show you love and appreciation in return. It might not mean that he'll do the laundry, or the marketing, but it's important for him to pitch in in his own way so you know he's doing his part. He's a very lucky man to have such a caring and loyal girlfriend, but at the end of the day, if his selfish attitude doesn't change, you just might have to put yourself first and move on with your life without him. You deserve to be with someone who loves and respects you, not someone who expects you to pull all the weight. Good luck.

Dear Poll: Are we Raising a Generation of Spoiled Kids?

A recent article on money and parenting brought up a really frightening realization -- parenting is now considered a competitive sport! Even if you aren't a parent yourself, this probably isn't all that surprising. As time moves on, keeping up with the Jones's is getting tougher and more cut throat.

Most parents want to make their kids happy, especially if they have the means to give them all the things they didn't have growing up, but when kids have nicer cars, cell phones, computers, etc. than their own parents, you have to ask yourself, is the older generation spoiling the younger generation rotten? Does giving them everything they ask for set them up for a life of being an unsatisfied "want monster"?
