Where Do You Stand? Sibling Rivalry

Even though I'm the oldest in my family, I've still fallen victim to sibling rivalry. And while my brother and I are very different, it's that competition that often times pushes us to reach our goals, whatever they may be. Yes, rivalry has a down side too, but tell me, where do you stand on the matter? Do you think it's just a healthy part of any family dynamic or does rivalry have the ability to wedge a gap between siblings?

Turn the other cheek? Hell no. In this family, it's an eye for an eye. If big sis shoves something in his mouth, he'll shove something in her face. They say revenge is sweet, but methinks the taste of her "leftovers" and the touch of his "gratitude" are anything but sweet. Can we get some parental intervention (and restraining orders) up in here?

Dear Poll: Have You Ever Competed With Your Sister?

Finally, the much-awaited movie The Other Boleyn Girl has arrived in theaters. Having read the book, I'm absolutely dying to see this movie, especially because it has two of my favorite actresses in the main roles, Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman. They play two sisters, Mary and Anne Boleyn respectively, in perhaps one of the most dramatic sibling rivalries of all time over the affections of King Henry VIII.

The story is certainly an intriguing one, and while I assume (and hope) that none of us are caught in such a whirlwind of competition with a sister, this particular brand of rivalry isn't a new one. So let me ask you this; have you ever competed with a sister?

Ashlee Simpson, Haylie Duff and Nicky Hilton are just some celebrities that are constantly living under the shadow of their more famous sisters. Sometimes it is nice to have the support of an older or younger brother or sister who has been there, done that, but it can also be somewhat disconcerting to always be compared and criticized next to your sibling.
