Feminism is back in vogue in Italy. Some say it lay dormant in spite of a vibrant '70s feminist movement, but thanks to raging misogynist Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, largely silent Italian women have had enough and are speaking up.
"[T]he scandals surrounding the prime minister have been like a violent slap in the face for millions of women who are just now waking up from a state of passivity," said political scientist Francesca Izzo.

Well this is depressing. A UK Daily Mail article titled Date-Rape Drug? No Dear, You Just Had Too Much to Drink claims that date-rape drugs are mostly an urban myth.

I didn't know people really still said "getting tail" as a term for bagging chicks. (OK, I guess there's really no way of saying that without sounding like a Neanderthal.)
Speaking of Neanderthals, the irony is not lost on me that the tagline for this Muscle Milk ad is "Drink. Evolve."

Okay, let’s be honest: Drew Barrymore was never really all that hot. In fact, hot was never the appropriate adjective for her. She was cute as a little kid in E.T.

Despite being close to one GOP man in particular (her father!), John McCain's daughter Meghan thinks that some men in her party need to readjust their attitudes toward modern women. Do you agree?

Back in the 1900s, a young girl could choose between two paths, at least according to this "social hygiene" manual.
If she was into bad literature at 13, then she was surely on her way to becoming a flirt by 20, fully engrossed in the fast life by 26, and an outcast by age 40 thanks to her promiscuity. But if she picked the virtuous path at 13 and chose studying and obedience, she would be a loving mother by 26 and an honored grandmother complete with a bun and glasses by the age of 60.

There's no question that Roman Polanski is one of the greatest living directors. It's also clear that he's had tragedy in his life: he survived the Holocaust as a child in Poland and grieved the murder of his pregnant wife Sharon Tate by Charles Manson followers in 1969.
But no matter how mishandled his legal case was in the '70s after he plead guilty to having unlawful sexual relations with a 13-year-old after giving her champagne and part of a quaalude — he has evaded punishment and lived a life of luxury as a celebrated artist in Europe for over 30 years.

It's easy to forget that in the middle of this battle to figure out South African runner Caster Semenya's sex, there's an 18-year-old, raised as a girl, who trained hard to win the gold medal at the World Championships in Berlin last month.
Now that the IAAF's (International Association of Athletics Federations) sex test results have come back and reveal that Semenya is intersexed, she's in hiding.
The test results indicate that Semenya doesn’t have a womb or ovaries, she has internal testes and three times the amount of testosterone that an average woman would have.

I loathe the word cougar — used, for the most part, to try to humiliate women who date younger men (their "prey," known as cubs). But for better or worse, it's in the lexicon, which means that the idea that older women can still be sexy — and sexual — is out there, too. The following group of films shows that the cougar's been around in popular culture for a while, that cougar/cub desire is a two-way street, and that these couplings can be good, bad, or downright scary.
