While trying to be popular, some kids completely miss the mark and end up embarrassing themselves. I'm sure Little Miss Charming will look back on this one day and regret her bout with exhibition eating. She looks like she's foaming at the mouth, which isn't even considered "cute" among the canine crowd.

Forget Fast Times at Ridgemont High. These are Philosophical Times in Junior High. (Although my feeble mind is straining to understand the connection between "pop culture" and the making/breaking of friendships...those crazy tweens.)

This kiddo is much smarter than I was as a child. School was a pain in the arse, but I didn't think I could do anything about it. Little Becky, however, has schemed up the perfect plan and it involves a demolition company, explosives, and a few nasty teachers.

Tina Fey captured the essence of high school girl-on-girl cruelty when she wrote the screenplay for Mean Girls. In the movie, Lindsay Lohan's character Cady describes how the queen of mean Regina George ruled her minion Gretchen, in addition to the whole school:
The meaner Regina was to her, the more Gretchen tried to win Regina back. She knew it was better to be in the plastics, hating life, than to not be in at all.

Take a look at seven girl-power lunch pails that I would trade my brown bag for even today!

The idea of a reform school for girls seems to come straight out of a B-movie from the '50s, complete with stock characters like the naïve innocent, the hardened mean girl with a heart of gold who ends up plotting a way for them both to escape, and an evil warden who gets in their way. It's hard to believe that such a place could still exist.
Until August of this year, the notorious Beloit reform school for girls in Beloit, KS did exist, and the school, founded in the 1890s, only recently shut down because the state could no longer afford to house the remaining 21 girls to the tune of $200,000 a year.

When you think of activities to help the emotional growth of teens with behavior troubles or special learning needs, lap dances would probably be the last thing you'd think of.
But that's exactly what the staff at Mount Bachelor Academy came up with, and they forced students to undergo lap dance therapy as a part of their "emotional growth" curriculum. The boarding school was shutdown after students accused the staff of employing this dubious therapy, and a seven-month state investigation has just confirmed the allegations.

Adding something positive to a very dark situation, the 15-year-old girl who was gang raped outside her homecoming dance in Northern California asked her supporters to channel their anger toward making sure nothing like this happens again. Speaking to a few hundred people gathered on campus, the victim's pastor read these words on her behalf:
"We realize people are angry about this. But let the anger cause change, change that is necessary to keep our children, our neighbors and our friends safe."
