Kate McKinnon Becomes SNL's First Openly Gay Woman Player

SNL has added Kate McKinnon to its list of players, bringing another woman, and the show's first open lesbian, into the mix. Kate is a veteran of the Upright Citizen's Brigade and known for her work on LOGO's The Big Gay Sketch Show. She'll get to work on the April 7 show, hosted by fellow talented woman Sofia Vergara. To get us pumped, let's look at some of Kate's past work that put a funny spin on themes dealing with sex, relationships, and women.

Katy Perry Gets Some SNL Comic Relief From Matt Damon

Katy Perry is set to host SNL tomorrow night, but today she was joined by Matt Damon, Val Kilmer, and Andy Samberg on the streets of NYC to film a skit. Katy kept her new haircut hidden under a brunette wig and put on her best smile for the camera. Katy joked about hosting SNL, saying, "I'm up for a challenge, for something new. I love to be challenged . . . I married Russell Brand." Matt's been the featured star on the late-night show in the past, but this time he's just stopping by for a digital short. He's been busy promoting his upcoming holiday release, We Bought a Zoo, and even stopped by The Late Show this week to chat with David Letterman. Matt's made a habit of doing his best Matthew McConaughey impressions during past visits to the talk show, and this time was no different. Damon lightheartedly channeled the other famous Matt after some coaxing from Dave.

The writers of Saturday Night Live's fake commercials have come up with a product that could end HPV: Lil Poundcake, a doll that administers the Gardasil vaccine to unsuspecting girls under the age of 10. Melissa McCarthy rocked her first hosting appearance this Saturday, but between watching the recent Emmy winner give it her all alongside Bridesmaid costar Kristen Wiig, we couldn't help but laugh at this vaccine-injecting doll. The spot channels recent debates and misinformation about the HPV vaccine, which can prevent cervical cancer, as some find it problematic to vaccinate young girls against an STD. Check it out.
