- Shakira, in the latest issue of Rolling Stone, about feeling her biological clock ticking. You won't see her get married any time soon, though. She claims she'll never get married, even though she's been with her beau for nine years. What I'd love to hear her explain is what the following lyrics from "Wherever, Wherever" mean: "Lucky that my breasts are small and humble/So you don't confuse them with mountains." I may not confuse them with mountains, but I am confused!

That "Britney in her panties" Rolling Stone cover might have gotten a lot of attention, but I know the mag can rock more than just an alluring pop tart. This compilation of all of its political covers is music to my history fanatic ears. I love looking back at contemporary representations of important events. What better way to roll through history than to peruse Rolling Stone's hot archive of political covers?

Most of the covers are a bit more creative than the magazine's latest radio-active Barack Obama-as-super-hero cover. A January 1974 issue featured a cartoonish President Nixon violating Lady Liberty. Yikes!

Check out the art work accompanying stories about the Vietnam War, the Watergate conspiracy, presidential children, Jimmy Carter and much more. The entertaining history lesson is worth the clicks!

Rolling Stone Rocks an Endorsement For Barack Obama

Rolling Stone has a giant crush on Barack Obama. The magazine endorsed Barack Obama. This is the first time in its history it has issued a primary season endorsement. Here's how the ode to Obama begins:

The tides of history are rising higher and faster these days. Read them right and ride them, or be crushed. And then along comes Barack Obama, with the kinds of gifts that appear in politics but once every few generations. There is a sense of dignity, even majesty, about him, and underneath that ease lies a resolute discipline. It's not just that he is eloquent - with that ability to speak both to you and to speak for you - it's that he has a quality of thinking and intellectual and emotional honesty that is extraordinary.

The strong endorsement also calls Hillary Clinton a capable and personable senator, but regrets that her campaign represents everything that makes "us so discouraged about our politics." Check out the entire endorsement tittled "A New Hope." You can grab a hard copy on tomorrow's newsstands.

Being Dumped: You May Want Him More - But Like Him Less

The Rolling Stones may have understood that you can't always get what you want - but it took a group of market researchers (who perhaps understand human desire better than Lacanian psychoanalysts?) to demonstrate that you don't always like what you want.

Although you may pine after and begin chasing someone who dumped you, a new study from the Stanford School of Business shows, you may not like him or her or lose interest once you get them back again.

“For many people, wanting and liking are two separate things that can become contradictory," according to researcher Baba Shiv, professor of marketing at SGSB. "When someone is thwarted from obtaining his original desire, he, in fact, comes to find the attractiveness and appeal of his target to be diminished. Yet, perversely, he may feel he wants it even more. The thrill becomes the chase."

Who’s more susceptible to this perverse push-pull motivation? People who tend to express emotions with lower intensity and, according to researchers, that means more women than men. Hotheaded people, if rebuffed by someone, tend to respond by turning down their interest and their desire. Their attitude, says Ab Litt, the doctoral student who co-authored this study is, “It’s not so great, and I don’t want it anyway.” (They generalized that although women may experience emotion more richly, they are less "emotionally reactive" while men tend to act with more "raw intensity.")

Ever wonder why that new bag or random trendy gewgaw may be unavailable even though you showed up at Barneys first thing in the morning to get it? Because marketers like those at Stanford are studying your love habits and deciding that you'll want something more if it's made scarce! Good thing I'm a hothead.

- American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert revealed his sexuality in a Rolling Stone cover story (he thought that would be cooler than a celebrity magazine).

Do you think gay public figures have an obligation to work for equality, or is pursuing a successful music career (as an openly gay man) the best way for Adam to open people's minds?

Lady Gaga: Bringing a New Sexy Back

How can you be sexy these days? Stop wearing pants. That's what Lady Gaga does and apparently the pop singer is fashioning a new definition of sexy. In the latest issue of Rolling Stone Lady Gaga explains:

I don’t feel like I look like the other perfect little pop singers. I think I’m changing what people think is sexy.

The article also discusses the 23-year-old's road to success. It included ordering bags of cocaine and spending hours perfecting her hair and makeup in a tiny Lower East Side apartment after she dropped out of NYU. Her look sort of makes more sense now.

Cubans Now Allowed to Build Homes With Their Own Money

Ever since he assumed power from his brother Fidel last year, Raul Castro, has rolled out some symbolic economic efforts that are changing the face of Cuba. The latest move allows Cubans to build their own homes using private money. It may sound like a basic right, but it's a big step for the country and aims to alleviate a housing shortage that was made worse with last year's devastating hurricane, which wrecked more than 1 million homes.

Up until now the construction of homes has been the responsibility of the government, but the state hasn't been fulfilling its yearly goal of building 100,000 new homes.

There is a catch to the new freedom, which Castro announced during a televised address, as there will be strict guidelines for the dimensions of proposed new dwellings. A shortage of building materials will also limit the number of people who are actually able to take advantage of the law change. Cement is offered for sale by the state, but other materials like stone and iron are only available on the black market.
