If you feel uncomfortable growing out your pubic hair, don't. Of course you want to please your boyfriend and have him find you desirable, but if you are going to feel self-conscious
with hair down there, you're not going to be able to enjoy your intimate time together.

A lot of people think pubic hair is gross - why else would there be such a market for hair removal? - but it's all about personal preference. If you're simply scared about what it will look like or how it will feel, perhaps you could just give it a shot, just once, and if you're unhappy with the results then all you have to do is shave or wax it ASAP! If you're totally opposed, let your boyfriend know how unsexy you'll feel, and hopefully he will be understanding. Whatever decision you make, be sure to talk to him and keep the lines of communication open, as I'm sure he'll want you to feel beautiful and sexy in the bedroom.

Male Pubic Hair: To Shave or Not

There is a new trend catching on - male grooming, "down there," and the jury is still out on whether or not it's a do or a don't.

Originally, women liked to get Brazilian waxes or shave their bikini line so they could wear tiny bathing suits, but now, we women are keeping our lady parts trimmed and waxed for aesthetic purposes too.

If you think about it, it makes sense for men too. Getting rid of unwanted hair down there will not only make guys feel more comfortable and clean, but it will also be an added bonus for women when they give their boyfriends oral sex.

I happen to be a big advocate of personal grooming, although keeping a little fluff down there is beneficial for your protection. So what's your opinion on the subject? Are you into guys shaving all of the hair off their manhood? Are you into a little trimming? Or are you into a guy that just goes au' natural?

Why Do We Have Hair Down There?

Woman can spend a lot of time and money dealing with their pubic hair. Most women shave, wax, or do sugaring, so they have less or none at all. That got me thinking - Why do we have it in the first place?

Pubic hair actually serves a very important purpose. Just like your nose hairs trap pollen, dust, and germs from entering your nose, pubic hair protects your body too. It traps bacteria, preventing it from entering your vagina. If you remove it completely, as with a Brazilian bikini wax, you may be increasing your chances of developing bacterial infections such as urinary tract infections.

All of your hair (no matter where it is) helps to regulate your body temperature and can also reduce friction during body movement, which makes it less likely for your skin to get irritated down there.

Here's another interesting point - from nature's perspective, our pubic hair has a lot to do with procreation. Your body secretes pheromones that attract the opposite sex, and your pubic hair (as well as underarm hair) helps to capture that erotic scent. It's kind of like a billboard that says, "Hey, look over here!" It attracts others to that area, so we can, well, you know, make babies!

Luckily, getting rid of your unwanted hair won't necessarily affect your chances of attracting someone. It's your personal preference to decide what you do with it, and if you're like me, knowing the purpose of your pubic hair doesn't make you love it any more.

Are you anorexic? That can definitely be a big contributor of hair loss. Also, how is your diet? Both iodine and silica are vital for hair growth and if you want to prevent further hair loss - iodine in your diet is a must.

Alopecia could be the problem as well. It is a hair loss disease caused by severe illness, stress or certain hormonal disorders. Another common hormonal disorder linked with hair loss is Addison's Disease.

AD occurs when the adrenal glands do not produce enough cortisol (hormone) or aldosterone. For this reason, the disease is sometimes called chronic adrenal insufficiency, or hypocortisolism.

Plotless Porn Wins the Day

I’m not a big porn-watcher, but if I did watch porn, I wouldn’t watch it for the plot. (I’m kinda like a dude that way.)

Well, it turns out if I started watching porn now, I’d be in luck. The pendulum has swung back to plotless porn, in part due to competition from the Internet, where porn scenes are short, relatively plotless and dialogueless, and which cut to the action more quickly. “On the Internet, the average attention span is three to five minutes,” said Steven Hirsch, co-chairman of Vivid Entertainment. “We have to cater to that.”

In the ‘70s, during the so-called golden age of porn, when actresses still had pubic hair and actors sported porn ‘staches, movies like Behind the Green Door were practically feature films - only with lots of sex. Then cheap, hand-held video cameras ushered in a generation of pornographers who bypassed plot so that the leading lady could quickly get down and dirty with the pool boy. Plot rolled back into porn the ‘90s with the popularity of DVDs. Big studios, said Paul Fishbein of AVN Media Network, wanted to appeal to women, hoping that couples would watch the films at home.

But we’re back again to plotless porn. What’s replaced plot? Themes, like New Sensations’ Girls ‘n Glasses, which stitches together scenes of women having sex in their glasses. Porn actress Savanna Samson laments the falling away of plot. “I used to have dialogue,” she said, and used to get excited about scripts. “Getting it on in one hardcore scene after another," she continues, "just isn’t as much fun."

Pubic Lice: More Common Than You Think

I know this is a pretty nauseating topic, but wouldn't you agree that it's better to talk about something gross than to have something gross? If so, listen up, because public lice, also known as crabs, affects more than 6,500 people a year. The best way to prevent yourself from being one of those people is to know the facts.

The most common way pubic lice can get passed is through sexual contact, but it's not the only way. Even though these creatures feed on human blood and need a host to live off of, they can also survive up to 48 hours off a human. That means they can be lurking on someone's sheets or clothes, so even if you don't end up going all the way, any close contact with something the infected person has touched can infect you as well.

Pubic lice makes your lady business itch like mad, and if you take a close look, you may see red marks where the little buggers have bitten. You may also see nits (eggs) on your hair, which look like whitish dots. To add insult to injury, there may be little tan or grayish bugs in your pubic area or on other coarse hair such as your eyelashes or eyebrows.

To get rid of crabs, you must wash the infected area with some pretty strong lice-killing shampoo called pediculicide (found at most drug stores). This will kill the bugs, but the nits will need to be removed one by one. Treatment may need to be repeated in seven to ten days, and in the meantime, you need to wash all the bedding and clothing you've touched during the three days before you started treatment. This is not something you want to deal with, so before getting intimate with someone, make sure he's clean and infection-free.

The Brazilian wax has seen a lot of American converts in the past few years, but many women still don't know all the details and remain a little shy about asking the proper questions.

Many different styles of Brazilian exist, so you need to be very clear with your waxer about what exactly you're getting. One style includes removing every bit of pubic hair from the top, the bottom, and everywhere in between, while another leaves a "landing strip" or a small triangle of pubic hair. There's the "Mommy Brazilian", which entails leaving your frontal pubic hair natural but removing everything from the bottom and between. Then there's the straight Brazilian, which simply involves getting a nice wax around your bikini line.

It's uncomfortable; there's no way around it. Every one's threshold for pain is different, however. From all accounts it's about a million times less painful than electrolysis. I'd say, if asked, that it's more painful than eyebrow waxing but less painful than a lip wax, but I really can barely stand having a lip wax. Hopefully, I can tell you everything you ever wanted to know but were too afraid to ask. Let's begin.

The cardinal rule for any kind of wax is knowing where you are in your cycle. There's nothing more painful than waxing right before or right after your period; your skin is extra sensitive, which increases the pain and might increase the likelihood of major irritation and bumps. Just don't do it
Before your appointment, exfoliate all the areas you plan to have waxed. I recommend buying Tend Skin to use between waxes as another preventative measure against ingrown hairs
Brazilian waxes are not for everyone, so if you're not ready to be bare down there, take it slow and start off with the "mommy Brazilian". There's nothing wrong with keeping things a little natural and comfortable. Pace yourself
Most women I know absolutely do not regret removing all the 'bits and pieces' from between and behind, and that's usually the part most beginners are nervous about exposing and waxing. It doesn't hurt like you think, and everyone seems to prefer how fresh they feel afterward
In order for your waxer to remove all the hair, they'll ask you to get in some very 'compromising' positions, so make sure you find someone you like. Ask your friends for recommendations. I bet your hairdresser knows someone really good and really professional, too
If you're uncomfortable being completely naked during your wax, you'll have the option of wearing a disposable paper thong, which you'll be asked to hold taut during the waxing. Once you get to know your waxer, none of this will feel quite so awkward
