Prince Harry Moves Fast - Under Investigation For Speeding

Britain's Prince Harry is a speedy operator. . . or at least he travels with them. In the UK, police are answering to claims that a car carrying Prince Harry (to London nightspot Boujis - clearly a royal emergency) was being driven in a speedy and reckless manner.

The police received a complaint on Wednesday from a driver who claimed he was tailgated by a royal convoy and forced to drive at dangerous speeds to get out of the way.

Allegedly, the princely Audi sped along at more than 100 mph and tried to pass the complaining driver in the outside lane after the Prince's car zoomed up behind with headlights flashing. The driver says, “It was very close. I thought they were going to nudge me. It was frightening. The middle lane was busy so I couldn’t pull back in. I had no option but to accelerate, forcing me well over the 70 mph speed limit to speeds I was uncomfortable with.”

Oh, Harry. Is this probably just a princely prank - or cause for concern? In other Harry news, the prince introduced his girlfriend, Chelsy Davy, to his grandmother - the Queen - at a wedding over the weekend. Now that would be an introduction to get your heart racing.

Prince Harry Shows His Military Medal. . .Your Favorite Prince?

This morning Prince Harry was awarded a military service medal for his 10 weeks of frontline service in Afghanistan. The 23-year-old prince served in Afghanistan with other members of his Household Cavalry Regiment. British forces have been fighting in Afghanistan for six years - but recently they're struggling to hold out against a resurgent Taliban force - according to US intelligence assessments, the Taliban force now controls at least 10 percent of the country.

Harry's job in Afghanistan included flying secret missions working as a forward air controller - he would call in air strikes to let pilots know where their targets were. Until he was outed earlier this year, Harry was the first member of the royal family to see active war service since Prince Andrew flew helicopters during the Falklands war 26 years ago.

His dad, brother, and his girlfriend Chelsy Davy attended the award service. Harry's brother William received his RAF wings recently and just last week paid a secret visit to British frontline troops.

Headline: Prince Harry Pulls Out

Prince Harry's service in Afghanistan has come to a swift conclusion after a Drudge tip prompted news outlets everywhere yesterday to break their silence on the Prince's whereabouts.

Harrry has been deployed to Afghanistan since December, but many news outlets agreed to keep the information secret for security reasons. The decision for Harry's swift removal came from the British Ministry of Defense who said in a statement,

The decision by elements of the foreign media to report Prince Harry's presence in Afghanistan without any consultation with the Ministry of Defense is regrettable. . . worldwide media coverage of Prince Harry in Afghanistan could impact on the security of those who are deployed there, as well as the risks to him as an individual soldier.

The decision must be disappointing for the royal who said in a recent interview, "At the end of the day I like to sort of be a normal person, and for once I think this is about as normal as I'm ever going to get. As far as I'm concerned, I'm out here as a normal JTAC on the ground and not as Prince Harry."

Prince Harry Hottie Alert in Afghanistan

The United Kingdom's very own Prince Harry is fighting on the front lines in Afghanistan. He's been there for 10 weeks, among fellow soldiers who were sworn to secrecy, along with news organizations, before word got out on the Drudge Report. His grandmum, Queen Elizabeth, broke the news of deployment to an excited Harry, who says that the Queen was relieved that he finally got a chance to do what he wanted. Gosh, princes are so spoiled.

This week, embedded reporters caught up with Harry, and the prince revealed that he hasn't showered in four days. Yum. I wonder what Dirty (Prince) Harry smells like? Harry told the BBC: "It's very nice to be sort of a normal person for once. I think it's as normal as I'm going to get." If Harry wants to be normal, he should marry a nice, normal American girl. Hee hee.

On a slightly more serious note, Harry is a high-profile target. Do you think the news organizations should have kept this mum, Queen or otherwise?

Prince William's Helicopter Fiasco - and More Royal News!

Royal flyboy Prince William landed his helicopter in hot water over the weekend - that is a $20 million Chinook helicopter that he landed in his girlfriend Kate Middleton's garden.

Prince William flew through a series of landings and takeoffs in his RAF Chinook outside the Middleton family home in Buckinghamshire. Trying to explain the eyebrow raising behavio[u]r, a royal source said, "there's nothing more macho than landing a helicopter in your girlfriend's backyard."

And I thought just being the future King of England was enough. . . !

No longer will eldest girls be overlooked for their younger bros when it comes time to take the crown. If the new equality law makes it through the Commons, it would mean that if Prince William has a daughter, followed by a younger son, the daughter would get to be queen. Proponents of the new law call the old way of ignoring girls, "a load of rubbish."

Girls may be in, but Catholics still need not apply to any Royal posts. The ban on Catholics, or anyone married to a Catholic, succeeding to the throne is still alive and well. The late Cardinal Winning might have put it best when he condemned the law, saying it's "the grubby little secret which still shames our nation."

Is there still a place for royalty in modern society? If Prince William and Prince Harry weren't so . . . charismatic, would we be less interested in maintaining monarchies?

Even though she has a personal fortune of $475 million, Queen Elizabeth II has decreed a more austere lifestyle for the royal family. Hoping to stay in touch with her subjects dealing with tough economic times, the Queen of England has implemented the following restrictions, according to AFP:

Energy: All lights at Buckingham Palace must be turned off when rooms are empty.
Food: Left-over food from royal banquets must be reused.
Partying: The Queen has warned her grandsons Prince William and Harry against displays of extravagance, such as partying at London nightclubs while ordinary citizens struggle to get by.
Clothes: For a recent state banquet she asked her dressmakers to make her gown out of material she received more than 20 years ago. And during official appearances she's been seen sporting outfits already worn before, even though etiquette demands she never wears the same outfit twice.

Etiquette sure sounds expensive!

Want to Control the Universe With Your Mind? Join the Army

It's not too early to think about what to get the Army for the holidays. Actually, it is but that hasn't stopped it from asking for a "thought helmet." Yes, a thought helmet. It's exactly what it sounds like: a helmet that reads silent brain waves with sophisticated software that then translates waves into audible messages for others to hear. If Prince Harry was wearing one of the helmets here, he wouldn't even need the radio, we'd know exactly what he was thinking. . .

The US Army has just awarded a 5-year, $4 million contract to three American universities to develop helmets that would transform how soldiers communicate. How is this even possible? To find out, read more.

To use the thought helmet, each person will have to be trained so computers can recognize individual mental patterns and read unspoken commands. They'll need to learn how to think loudly and clearly so their brain will send strong signals that can be distinguished from background noise. The Army neurologist overseeing the project doesn't think this will be hard because of the "clean, clear, and formulaic" way that soldiers are already trained to talk. Ultimately, they should be invaluable in combat and casualty care.

While it may be a decade or two away from reality, video gamers are already ahead of the, um, game. Next summer a $299 headset, which offers rudimentary version of brain wave technology, will hit the shelves. Scientists believe the army's more sophisticated technology will be useful to all of us in the future when we're able to talk on cell phones with only our most indoor voices - our thoughts.

I know what you're thinking; I am, too. Creepy? Mind reading, mind control, etc. But scientists preempted these accusations with this logic: every brain is unique and each person must train the system so it is impossible to do it unwillingly or without ongoing cooperation. Do you buy it? Is this technology a good idea, or just a scary thought?
