I don't know about you, but I like to describe products just as if I were in a commercial! Or, in this case, as if I were in a soap opera and doing really unsubtle product placement for Prego's heart-smart sauces that are oh, so deliciously nutritious for you and your loved ones.

Where Do You Stand? Using the Term "Preggers"

While in line to get a cup of coffee the other day, I overheard a woman talking on the phone. No, I wasn't eavesdropping - everyone in the cafe heard her shout "You're preggers?!" It was really sweet that she got so excited, but I admit I was a little surprised that she used the term "preggers." Of course I've heard it before, but I didn't realize it was so mainstream. I'm kind of indifferent to the word myself, but I know some people who absolutely loathe it. So tell me, are words like prego, preggers, and preggie too cutesy for your taste?

The Preggo Shuffle

The "Prego Shuffle," eh? Don't you guys mean "preggo" or "preggers"? I thought Prego was a brand of spaghetti sauce. In any case, no rap song should ever, ever include the words "waddle" or "Kegel." Although, I bet a preggo MIA could get away with this! That's because she rules.

Dear Sugar,

I have been with the same guy for five years and never once got pregnant and we have unprotected sex all the time. Why have I not gotten pregnant? I'm worried that I can't have kids, and if not, what do I do? I really want to be a mom.

Dear Not Prego Patty,

I totally understand your concern, and there could be several reasons why you haven't gotten pregnant. I assume that you weren't on any kind of hormonal birth control for those five years, but if you were on something like Depo-Provera beforehand, sometimes it can take a while for your body to get back into its normal cycle. If you were not using anything like that, it could be that you haven't had sex on your fertile days. An egg needs to be present in order for you to get pregnant, so if you had sex way before or after ovulation, his sperm wouldn't have an egg with which to unite.

Age and health matter too. If you or your boyfriend has a chronic illness, or if you are over 35, you may have a more difficult time conceiving. There's also a possibility that there's a problem with either your fertility or your guy's sperm. Before jumping to any conclusions, the best plan of action is for both of you to see a doctor. They can ask questions and do tests to help you figure out what may be preventing you from having a baby. They'll also be able to guide you in what the necessary steps would be once you figure out what's going on, and if you do figure out you can't get pregnant, please remember adoption is always an option. I love food so whenever I'm around a newly pregnant woman, I'm fascinated by their cravings and aversions. I've always said that when I get pregnant, I'm going to take full advantage of eating everything and anything I crave - there isn't a better excuse to go off your diet, right?! So to all you mothers out there, do tell, what did you eat when you were pregnant? And you non mothers, what are you most looking forward to eating guilt free while prego? It'll be Reese's Peanut Butter Cups for me!

Have You Ever Taken Plan B?

Emergency contraception, also called Plan B can be a total life saver if your birth control fails you. Contrary to popular belief, Plan B is not an abortion pill - it's simply 2 little pills that contain levonorgestrel, the same hormone found in regular birth control pills, but just a stronger dose. When taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex, they can prevent the fertilization of your egg. If the egg is already fertilized, Plan B can prevent it from attaching to the uterus.

Plan B can only prevent a pregnancy that hasn't happened yet. It's also good to know that if you take Plan B and you are already prego, it will not harm the pregnancy.
